Except the engine is in the wrong place and drives the wrong wheels.

    I mean the supercharger.

Nah, wouldn't fit in with their ethos of no unnecessary weight. Exige ones are in the centre anyway.

I haven't seen one of these in Ireland in a long time!

Would need repairing and registering but I love them :)

They've appeared on dd recently. I hate to say it but that's worth it's weight..............or free to someone if the seller wants to give it a chance.

They are fairly reliable as well.
6 years ago myself and a few friends drove an Uno Fire from Rome to Athens in the middle of summer.
Didn't miss a beat and economical too.

Amazing how its kept its hubcaps. It seems a small fiat and its hubcaps are soon parted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭rizzodun

Cool as it is, hardly worth €1500 for the sticker and hubcaps, weren't they standard other than that?

We can only see 2 of the hubcaps though!

They had colour coded bumpers and special blue seats with the Italia 90 logo on them too.

Oh right, but it'd should only have 12 months NCT too right?

Wait, how'd you know it's a taxi? That means the mileage is seriously bogus also then?

It's also not one owner from new :)

And it says it's a tee dee eye, yet it should say so under the octavia badge on the boot, should it not?

Surely if it's a taxi it should have more miles than that?

It astounds me how people manage to loose/break oem hubcaps. It's not like you take them off every night and bring them inside? They should only come off for ncts or a puncture, and popped straight back on. Some people are actually retarded!

I can't post a link but a taxi drivers forum I'm a member of has that listed as being a taxi from dec 2010 to dec 2014

If you are looking for people who value truth and honesty, the lower echelons of the motor trade is not the best place to be.
Retirement Is Cause of Sale As This Is A One Lady Owner Car From New

When I went to see the stilo, before I even got out of my car, i said to my wife "thats been painted", yet the guy bearfaced tells me "No paint, just buff... Look!" and proceeds to make buffing gestures on the wing to prove his point. When I said the rear bushes were gone ( from the nct report on rear tracking) he again lied by saying that he had replaced them. He also serviced it last week ( oil filter was rusted into place) and definitely did the belt and water punp as well ( pump has 10 year old sealant showing)

Im getting to the point where I dont even ask anymore, I just make my own judgement/ risk assesment. :D

I can't understand how some people can tell lie after lie to ones face and not give a shyte. I wouldn't be able to lie to someone about a timing belt, crash etc, I'm not that sort of person to begin with. Obviously there are a lot of chancers who don't care.
Hopefully karma soon comes around to bite them in the ass.

    !
It's an octavia tour, AFAIK they didn't have any model badges under the octavia badge.

I remember looking at a corolla last year, was told it was just serviced, with visible rust on the oil filter, took it for a test drive and you couldnt see out the back window with the smoke, I remember the smile on yer man's face when I came back, it changed pretty quick when he realised it wasn't a grin I had in the car, just I was laughing histerically at the state of it.

    I don't like MG/Rover, but I'll make an exception for this ;-)

Cork based 6R4, original show car. Could be pricey but shure you'll get the cheap tax this year!

Ahh, the utterly beastly 6R4 Group B Turbo-Nutter-Bastard. Mid-engined, 4WD, DFV F1-inspired V6 engine, 400+ horsepower. This thing has about as much to do with the Austin Metro as the JCB Dieselmax has to do with a Sitemaster! :D

Fierce heavy on juice. You'd need to drop the daysel from a montego into it. :p

I hate Metros so much, I couldn't even drive that, knowing it vaguely looks like one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭rizzodun

I couldn't drive that either, not because I hate metros, only because it's so well preserved I couldn't bring myself to give it the balls to the wall thrashing its begging for. And if you can't do that, then what's the point?

You think it makes sense to pay 10k for a 12 year old Focus with no redeeming features other than 20k on the clock?

1k for the car and 9k for the 100 Sticker!

10k... costs more than anything in the luxobarge thread ffs.

    Right, my fault.
I thought that was the link to the S2000 Escort. :p

I'd class mine as nicer than that, I'll sell it for 10k if anyone's interested?

That one literally has no redeeming features over a normal focus, don't see what the hype is about 100 edition. Mine even has a heated front windscreen, which that doesn't.

Bodywork is tidy, and low mileage, but that's it.

Local ford dealer had a 2003 focus the spit of that yesterday. I went over to it, to double check if the alloys were 16's, as I haven't seen any others in the flesh. Same spec, red flecked seats. Was petrol anyway (judging by the gear knob). Was reversed against the fence, so didn't check if it was an anniversary edition, but had all the characteristics of one. 2.5k was the price on it.

Actually, wait, I've it solved. He has changed the side repeater lenses to clear ones.

He is therefore fully entitled to ask what he's asking. Shouldn't have any problem selling.

Looking at this car. What are peoples thoughts? I will be of course having it fully inspected by a mechanic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

The 1.6 isn't the best in the mk4 in the sense that the car is too heavy fot it. As a result it's slower off the mark and doesn't really give any oomph. Test drive it yourself and see if you find that a problem.

Just 2 things I noted, one is that it has that awful navy bluish interior, it looks quite bad, just looks like different interior surfaces were just coloured different tones of blue.
The other is, and I'm being pedantic, is that the rear number plate has a dealer surround, whereas the front doesn't. Maybe it just fell off, but just give a check to see if there was any front end damage.

Edit: There's a nasty few scrapes on the front left of the bumper, between the headlight and fog light.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,698 ✭✭✭Hachiko

I would keep away, 1.6 it will guzzle juice and too small a engine to pull that lump about., plus high enough miles.

I was always curious, but how do you remove the limiter from the JDM imports?
Friend of mine had an Impreza import and said it would cost a fortune to have it done.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the ECU, so you would have to go to someone who can read it and then re-write it back with the new changes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,499 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

In some cars you can fit a Km to miles conversion chip. The jdm cars are basically limited to 180kmph.
The chip alters the pulses going to the speedo by 62% or whatever and makes the kmph reading on the dial into mph.
Essentially the car would now be limited to 180 mph.

Or in the case of an Eunos Roadster, take out a single crew from behind the clocks, then find a really big hill. :pac:
