Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I have two great torches.

A re chargable Mag Lite that lives in the Jeep, in a holder/charger. I always know where it is and it's always charged. Can be used as a weapon too, if you're that way inclined.

A Clulite SL2, again re chargable. It's a good search light, great lamp for lighting up a field.

The Led Lenser P7 is a good light that can be kept in the pocket. If you want something for scanning the fields then you might need a Lightforce 140/170 from the cigarette lighter or from a battery pack.

I got one of these last year, always thought they were dorky.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0022NHN4E/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000IX2IJA&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0FJGVQ3K1ZW1NGTF3S12

the most useful thing imaginable. you look like a tool using it, but who cares, ideal for anything fiddly in the dark, or even just poor light, or also for walking around carrying stuff with no hand free for a flashlight.

wont light up a field, but a great tool none the less.

What ever you get, make sure it's an LED torch rather than incandescent bulb. The difference in battery life is incredible. but I'm sure you know that anyway.

how much do you want to spend????

you can get a good torch for £30, a great torch for £70, or the dogs bit's for £300,
do you want to run it from a car lighter or a stand alone with its own battery,
have a look through these sites, it will gave you all the info you'd need,

the best setup will be a head torch and a hand held search light, no matter what your doing you'll be set for it

as Yog1 said price will determine quality. I have a Led lenser X21 & M7 both handheld. Neither one is cheap but their quality & performance are excellent. I also use these for work so the high price was offset by a lot of use

As for finding cattle at night I have not had a torch of the same size yet to equal the x21
