    Hi,

Does anybody know where I can buy a Snow Leopard Family Pack in Dublin City - or there abouts?

CompuB on Grafton Street doesn't have it in stock anymore.

    Cheers.

Yes, but I need Snow Leopard first.

I want to install it this weekend.

I think some Carphone Warehouse shops stock Apple so you could try there? Some camera shops in the city also stock Apple, Peats may be worth a try I'm not sure, as was pointed out though Apple don't tend to let you buy older stuff and with newer OS out its usually quite hard to find the previous OS, EBay may be a good bet if not

    Thanks, yoyo.

I'll give those stores a try - it is still available online at Apple.com but I was hoping to get it this weekend as I won't be able to stay in for the postman anytime for the next few weeks.

It is very irratating to not be able to go into an Apple Reseller and get one even though Apple still stock them.

    Cheers.

That would wreck my head if I had to buy an old version just so I can get the new version !

Once you get Lion, the new version, it can install itself over the internet once you've bought it and installed it on your hard drive.

So does it just not work or something, until you get leopard ?

You have to buy Lion from the Mac App Store, which was introduced in Snow Leopard. So if you have Leopard, you have to get Snow Leopard first, then update it, then open the App Store, then buy Lion and install it from there.

How long is snow leopard out?

Since August 28th 2009. Leopard came out on October 26th 2007, and Lion came out on July 20th 2011.

    Hi,

Things went a bit haywire back around that weekend and I didn't make it into town.

It is only now that I have the money again to get Snow Leopard.

Has anybody seen Snow Leopard around in any shops lately?

Buying online isn't an option at the moment.

    Cheers.

    I doubt it. Try CompuB.

Apple don't allow anyone to stock it. That is any Apple Reseller. PCWorlds etc may have stocked in the past but they would def be out by now. Only choice is Apple's online store.

Might not apply to you, OP, but if you’re still using MobileMe (haven’t yet migrated to iCloud), you can’t migrate to Lion without a copy of Snow Leopard, so Apple are currently offering MobileMe users a free copy of Snow Leopard.

I can't find my snow leopard disk and need to install it on my old 13mpb tomorrow as I've it sold.
If you could find the dmg online what's the best way to burn it to disk so it will boot with the new hard drive I've got for it. Tks

Use Disk Utility. Just click Burn, select the DMG and away you go.
