    dungarvan mini Report.

Was looking forward to this for this for ages but with a load of travelling during the week i came to the start line a bit stiff and sore but still managed to go out too fast. Went out under 7 min mile pace which is near enough my 5k pace. Dunno what i was thinking really. So after two miles i realised this wasn't a 5k and began to suffer. Continued on suffering till around 7 mile when i began to ease out. Finished ok but not my best. Nothing like a kick in the pants to keep you honest. Came in at 73:29. Overall i am happy out with the time but i made it tough for myself. Lesson learned and looking forward to mallow.

We'll have to change thread name again...maybe just call it DCM Class of 2011 - The next Challenge

Did mr slow recruit you for Limerick :) same plan for me Anne but going to aim for cork instead of Limerick.

Have entered the 5km St Patricks race in Dublin, friends are doing it & enjoyed it last year, but think I need to start doing some longer stuff! Really enjoyed Raheny yesterday, nice to run on roads you recognise, time was 42.45 & am in no doubt about how much work there is to do!!

He sure did,:D (he says he's not on commission but i have my suspicions) ;) and it just fits in better with Dublin to give 4 week recovery and then 18 plan for Dublin!!!

I have a cousin running the half so it would be great to meet up with her....i'll see how training is going and then could revert back to Cork...nothing set in stone yet.....said i'd decide after Meath half on 4th March!!! I know you can't do Dublin this year...what plan are you thinking of using, i have started on Hal Higdons Intermediate 2

Plan :o oh yeah I better start looking at that. Going to concentrate on the half first and then take it from there. But I need to do some serious speed training  will take a look at hh or if anyone can recommend a different marathon training plan.

18 week plan for Cork starts today:D with a REST DAY, so back at it tomorrow..Ecoli might be able to give a different plan!!

i looked at P&D but think i might be trying to bite off a bit too much so will stick with Hal for this one!!!

    Hi everyone,

Congrats to those who did Raheny-was so jealous but not ready to race!

So what's next on the agenda? Are we going to pick a race or just distance so everyone from different parts of the country can pick their own?

    What do you think Ecoli???

Only got in 3 runs last week but managed an interval session on a track-first time ever:D. Then a 7 mile yesterday, legs felt a little tired at the end but really enjoyed it. Love the longer distances

Feck ye with all your talk of marathons, now I want to do one also. Thinking of Waterford in June. But still cant make my mind up.

Meh, I'm quite comfortable with the idea of not doing a marathon in 2012 :pac::p

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,166 ✭✭✭red face dave

I only wanted to do one but its a case of itchy feet. Rainbow will you not miss all that training.

Still gonna be doing plenty of training, just not racing more than 13.1 miles at once :)
