Arcade Fire. I'm not saying their rubbish. I actually like some of their songs but their just not as brilliant as some people say they are.

I'd agree with Arcade Fire i must say. I just never really saw what the fuss was about. A lot of their tunes are very similar to stuff that was previously done by the likes of The New Pornographers.

It's just the same basic guitar music that has been done for a long time by a lot of people, the drum work is normally pretty pedestrian.

    Who over-rates these?

Anybody who has ever parted with their hard earned cash on either of these websites..!

    http://www.dana-music.com/

    http://www.richiekavanagh.ie/the-music/

If only 2 people buy from those websites, then its over rated.!

Plenty of people know they're sh1t. This thread is about acts you hear nothing but praise for.
If it was just about sh1t acts, it would be named as such.

And plenty of people enjoy them. Which in my opinion makes them overrated.

I haven't heard much praise in general for Cher Lloyd, yet she is mentioned on this thread. I would put her in the sh1t act category along with my two suggestions, but taste is subjective.

But, to be fair, i'm being a dick.! I get your point.

    Kylie.

Nah, don't know why Cher Lloyd is being mentioned either.

No just your description of (his) drumming being "normally pretty pedestrian", I thought it was funny, never heard of a drummer or drumming, more to the point, being described this way.

Ah right! Thank **** for that!!!

Yeah i was using it in the below sense,

"lacking in vitality, imagination, distinction, etc.; commonplace; prosaic or dull: a pedestrian commencement speech."

Would agree with Moon being a class drummer, I've never really rated Bonham myself to be honest, or Led Zeppelin for that matter.

Thanks:D To be fair I do like The Who's early stuff, but they haven't made a decent album in 40 years.

You sir, are mistaken. Bonzo was the greatest drummer ever to pick up a pair of sticks

Edit: Just noticed what you said about Led Zeppelin, there is no hope for you

    Rubbish, rubbish!

Led Zeppelin are the biggest load of crap I've been inflicted to.

I would be insulted by that comment, but you listen to Led Zeppelin so I can quite easily laugh it off:)

The Flaming Lips are a genuinely over-rated band. One trick ponies of epic proportions.

The first one has a good chorus. Other than that it just bores me. That fools gold song. Almost ten minutes? Are you serious? I'd have fallen asleep recording that.

Edit: I have to laugh at the fact my comment went up at the same time as kfallon's :D

Led Zeppelin are a funny thing to me. I love bands who have channelled their style and their progressive musical stylings but I am not a fan of them. There is something so arsey about them. All amazing, jaw-droppingly brilliant musicians but I think the utter wankishness of Page and Plant infect the Led Zeppelin brand.

Also (and this is absolutely not a dig at you, Kaiser, I don't know you) any Zeppelin fan I know is practically musically retarded and wouldn't know Black Sabbath from Black Box. It seems that some people get so entranced by Zeppelin (and perhaps not without good reason) that they become utterly, utterly myopic about the vast, expansive musical landscape that is out there. Zep is their alpha and Omega.

Kaiser, I'd look forward to your opinion on this but let's not go down the road of 'your band is better than mine'. Your opinion is valid as is mine. That is the subjective nature of music.

Watch Zeppelin Live At The Albert Hall 1970 and tell me that's not a good drummer.

Never said he was a bad drummer, I said I would never rank him up there with the likes of Keith Moon.
