Anyone know of an Eye Vet for dogs?

Does anyone know of a good eye vet for dogs? My dog has a disclocated lens and I want to bring her to someone who specialises in veterinary eye care. Does anyone know of one they would recommend? I think it's rather urgent so I would appreciate any info or advice.

There is one in Galway, I think it's Leanne from Barna Vets.

Juliet are you looking for anywhere in Ireland (i.e. are you willing to travel) or is there a certain area you're hoping to find one?
Just so posters can help you better.

There's one in Dublin on the Soutside - Michael Woods also I know Gilabbey Vets in Cork also have an eye specialist. We've been to Gilabbey to get my dogs legs 'fixed' and they were brilliant. Don't let travelling put you off -it's worth it in the end.

AFAIK there are only two veterinary ophthamologists in Ireland - didn't know about Gilabbey.

Michael Woods in Dublin, who I've only heard good things about, and Natasha Mitchell in Crescent Vets in Limerick, who is wonderful. I had my collie with her on Wednesday. :) Pretty sure they both work by referrals so you would need a referral from your own vet?

Terry Grimes is the specialist ophthalmology clinician in UCD vet hospital.Your vet should be able to refer you to him.Hes an older man and he teaches all of the ophthalmology to the vet student in ucd.

Thank you all so much for your prompt replies. I have heard about both Michael Woods and Natasha Mitchell but only from the net. My dog is an extremely hyper and nervous dog - do you think that would preclude them looking at her? She usually has to be sedated for any lengthy examination/

She recently got married ! She now runs all female practices in Barna & Moycullen. Excellent bunch & really nice to deal with.

Just logged in to recommend Mr Grimes....he's the only vet/opthalmologist I'd let anywhere near any dog of mine with an eye issue!
A lovely, gentle man that my dogs adore. He's always done any breed-specific eye testing I've had done for showing/breeding etc.
