Issue on my line when using newer Zyxel Router

    Hi,

I'm hoping that you might be able to shed some light on this. Last Saturday my line started hopping on and off and the connection was erratic at best.

    Downstream Upstream
Max Allowed Speed (kbps) 12282 1021
    SN Margin (dB) 12.00 9.30
    Line Attenuation (dB) 30.50 13.50
    CRC Errors 11 0

    I'm on the 24mb package.

Thinking this may just be the router that has died, I switched over to another Zyxel, which when last used was in 100% working order.

When I switched over, the exact same thing happened.

Yesterday was the worst day, this is a business line that I depend on for work and to say my work was disrupted this week would be putting it mildly!

I had an old Netopia, which was a bit dodgy, due to the telephone line connection being a bit loose, so I tightened it up and taped the wire in, so it would stay in one place, plugged it in and voila, my line was back working with no disconnection issues.

Whatever the issue, the Zyxel clearly couldn't cope, but the netopia seems to be taking it in its stride.

Each time the router would lose it's sycnc and try to re-sync, the router went through the entire reboot process (exact same issue on both Zyxels)

I did manage to get one log before the reboot process occured and wiped it.

It's also worth noting, you were good enough to upgrade me for free for testing purposes but when you did so, I was still on the very first netopia routers, which didn't support ADSL2!

When are the new routers getting rolled out?

Thankfully the issue is resolved but I'm curious to know what was causing it. I have a full tek installed and the had no issues prior to this, with no changes made within my house and the problem appeared out of nowhere.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Hi Samba,

I tested your line and there may be an issue that engineers could have to check. Can you call support on 1890 260 26, to run a few checks.

At the moment we have no indication as to when eircom will chansing the routers provided, however if and when we get any info on this I will let you know.

    Thanks, Mark
