Depends on what I'm playing. Could go a few weeks not playing anything, and then when something like Skyrim comes out, I'll probably be putting in 30ish hours on the Friday,Saturday and Sunday. Keep going at about 5 hours a day for the next week, and probably will only play about 5 hours a week between then and Christmas.

Last week,I put in a few hours with BF3, but didn't play anything for a month before that

 If you can fit 6-8 on weekdays no way your going to lower it on weekends!!

Maybe 1 hour a day playstation during the week and 2-3 hours on the weekends (depending). I guess another 2-3 hours a week handheld gaming (recently I quit playing iphone games and perfer to carry my DS around with me.) It used to be more, but I work about 50-60 hour weeks so not got much time anymore.

2 hours weekdays, and 8 hours at weekends, which is just about perfect for me.

Will you all deck off with your pitchforks?

If he wants to play 12-15 hours per day, then let him have it. It his own funeral.

I personally can't know for sure how much I spent actuolly playing. I do all my gaming on pc. I can play for hour or 2 something then drop of to troll boards.ie, then do something outside pc. Read up something on Internet. Watch a show or two etc...

I prefer a good night by pc with lads online. We might not even play but have a great messing around on vent.

    I don't like pubs etc.

I do have full time job, misses for last 8 years. Friends online and offline. I do go for a good house party now and then, but I still prefer my gaming/pc time to ****y tv stuff.

I've played 23 hours of Battlefield in the last week but I was off school so its all good. Usually 2 or 3 hours during the week and around 5-6 at weekends.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

I don't have a set time; it depends what I'm playing. Like last week I'm sure I put in 20 hours into Batman : Arkham Asylum but I haven't played anything since. I might dip into Other M or DKCReturns; otherwise i'll just hang on until Skyward Sword.

When I do i usually do 1-2 sessions per day (time permitting) until I've sorted the single player campaign.

Lol switched my ps3 on the other day, it's only been two years

I would say that I play about an hour each week night. At the weekends I'd probably put in about 4 or 5 hours in total.

Christ I would say 10+ now thanks to Dark Souls.

Funny cos in Spring and summer it would have been 2 or 3 I would say.

    Bout 7 to 9 hours a week..

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,031 ✭✭✭Cravez

It really depends for me, sometimes I might go a week only playing 2-3 hours that whole week. Some weeks I might put in 10 hours. Depends on what Im doing around the time. With Skyrim comming out and a few days Holidays booked off though ill probably put in a good amount of hours this week! :D

Damn you pesky kids, I believe I am now officially old.

If I can squeeze in 3-4 hours a week, I'm doing well. I'll try to make an exception for a new game though e.g. played gears 3 for 3-4 hours on the day of release

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

A lot. Probably about 4 to 6 on a weekday and about 2 a day at the weekend. I work weekends so i don't get much of a chance to, especially seeing as i'll probably be out at night, but during the week after college i'll sink a good bit of time into gaming. It's hard to measure though, for example i'll hop on tf2 for a while then browse the internet, eat, watch youtube videos, then play minecraft for a while, chill out for a bit, sink a few hours into wow etc. It varies day to day.

During the week I'd prob get in between 8 to 14 hours and on weekends if I'm not doing anything I'd usually put in about 10 to 12 hours.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭penev10

Depends what game I'm playing. Some games I limp through playing on a few hours a week (2-4 I'd say). If I'm really stuck into a game I'd fit in 7-10 hours a week.

About 10 years ago I was racking up 25 hours a week no problem!

I love games and couldn't live without them but unless I'm playing with friends, more than 2 or 3 hours and I get bored and have to give it up for awhile.

On average, probably about 10 hours during the week and maybe 10 at the weekends. Goes up and down depending. Longest was a straight 8 hour Halo Reach online session with a friend when we were hungover, best craic I've had in years playing online.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭djkeogh

reckon about 15 hours a week. That can ramp up to 20 or so if I end up getting hooked on a game and don't see the hours past bed time tick by.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭Somnus

In my final year of college so have no where near as much time for gaming as before. If I do play during the week, and that's rare now a days, it'd be about an hour, max 1.5 hours in a night.

At the weekend I might get in 6-8 over the two days depending on how busy etc.

Skyrim is coming out at the worst possible time for me (still can't wait :D) and it will be interesting to see how much it affects my time playing. I'll report back next week :P

Married with young baby plus job doesn't leave any time for any console gaming tbh. Would mess around with a few mobile games on the iphone but that's it.

And as much fun as I've had gaming (my god, I think of the hours I put into Oblivion, Homeworld, Halo online etc.).... I think the sedentary element of gaming didn't help in terms of health and fitness.

So... as hypocritical as this sounds (cos I loved, really loved games and still have an interest in them)....

I don't want my child to be a big gamer. I'm gonna make sure he's into outdoors stuff (which I only got into later in life).

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,466 ✭✭✭Snakeblood

I have a wife and kid, so this is my first proper winter season with the awesome games coming out and also with the inability to play as I'd like. I manage about 3-4 hours during the week, by doing it one or two nights after the baby has been put to bed, then maybe about 5 hours over the weekend, by staying up late. It's not easy, but I beat Batman two nights ago, by good time management.

How could you deny your child an experience such as Half-Life!! :P
I would probably do the same and encourage sports though.
Not that it would make any difference as despite all the scolding myself and my brother would get when we were younger, it did not stop us staying up gaming all night.

It would be brilliant to play 50+ hours per week, but unfortunately, with work, girlfriend, training, social commitments etc it is restricted to 10-15 hours.
It affects my sleep, both reducing time and quality but it is worth it!

I know, it's total hypocrisy in one way.

I don't say this as a technophobe. I own an iphone, ipad, laptop, 360, PS3 and still love my tech porn. I've played and loved 'recent' games like Mass Effect 2 as much as I have 'classics' like Super Mario Land, Flashback and Civilisation.

But so much of our lives are spent sitting on front of a box (whether it be a monitor at work or a tv at home). Disconnecting from that, getting out and 'smelling the roses' is going to become ever more important.

I'm sure the ubiquity of games on handheld devices etc. will mean gaming is completely prevalent in future anyway.

Anyway, I'm dragging this thread off topic. Sorry OP. :)

Get back to your gaming folks.
