Gooey eye on newborn

Our kid is 6 days old and has a bit of goo on his eye. Just googled it and it seems breast milk in the eye is a way to cure it! Just wondering if anyone has tried this, and if so, did they get a good result?

No medical advice here. If you're concerned about the eye see a doctor or your PHN. Treatment by Google is not a good idea.
