Saw The Silver Spoon (new edition (red cover) of old Italian cook book) advertised in Agenda magazine (with the Sunday Bus Post) at E39.95 although the editor doesn't say where this price can be got. Logged on to bookdepository.co.uk and bought the book for E21.47 with free delivery !!!!

OP are you comparing the price of the book in a shop like Eason's with the price from an online seller who posts from Hong Kong?, can you see how and why there may be a difference in price?, think rent, rates, wages, vat, tax, etc.

and comparing a special offer price with the rrp of the publisher. How about comparing some of the Easons special offers with the standard price on book depository - would you then stae that book depository are the rip off merchants?

Specail Offers are in most cases down to individual stores. - The book you mention is probably not a book that stands out in Ireland and therefore not a target for a promotion.

Imo if there's one category of goods that are fairly priced in Ireland, its books.

Virtually every book has its rrp printed on the back in sterling and you will find the irish price very close to average exchange rates.
