US Apple airport express - use over here?

    Recently bought an airport express from the US. Seems to power up ok but when plugged into my UPC modem for configuration it (the airport utility on my Win 7 PC to which the UPC modem is connected) can't see it.

    I know there are channel incompatibilities between US and EU hardware but my modem is broadcasting on channel 1 which should be ok on both hardware.

    I'll try a hard reset of the express later but just wondering if anyone has had success with US wifi equipment over here?
