I had an internal ultrasound with my gynae who specialises in fertility. I have two ovarian cysts which have to be removed which i thought was good news as it explained pur infertility. but found out this week that they are dermoid cysts which don't effect fertility, gynae said uterus looked fine so next step will be to put dye in tubes to make sure they are no blockages. When is your appt?

I had a first appointment with my GP who is also a Gynae, but also a first appointment with an OBGYN Consultant for fertility who I was referred to, so I will fill you in for both:

My GP took bloods for Day 3 and I had to go back for Day 21 to repeat them, I also got general history of TTC taken, (how long were we trying etc) as well as some general questions (how long my cycles were, did I have ovulation pain etc) . She took my blood pressure, and advised me to book my smear test as it was not current. I returned another day and she did it for me. Because I happened to show high prolactin in my bloods, I had to go back a few times to get that rechecked.

For the Consultant, I had a transvaginal ultrasound, bloods taken prior to the appointment so the results were ready on the day. She also referred me for the HSG X ray, to check the tubes, and because of my Prolactin issue she sent me for an mri.

Because it was a fertility assessment, we were assessed as a couple. Himself had to have GP do bloods to be ready on the day, and an hour before the appointment he had his own appointment to produce a semen sample.

By the way, dont worry if you have your period the day of the TV scan. They can still do the scan and are not grossed out at all because sometimes they do need to scan a woman during her period (maybe for endomitriosis??) so they are well used to it. I was on CD1 for mine.

Best of luck Tuesday and let me know how things go. Yes I'm hoping to be pregnant by June. Wonder how long the appointment is and if you get any tests done there and then. Is there a charge if you go public?
