    Hi all,
I have been given this old Dell to do with what I please. Is it upgradable or are any of the parts good/worth salvaging? I am just going to use it to learn my way around the inside of a PC for the mo. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

I'm not sure Dell's are very upgradable as they use their own proprietry MoBos. I have an XPS 600 and have been told that it's not upgradable as a newer MoBo simply won't fit.

I believe there is an upgrade P4 CPU availble for mine, but not worth the outlay for the limited increase in performance.

Hence I'm here and planning a self build in the New Year.

What ksimpson said. The PC is very old and not worth the upgrade at all. If you are throwing it out, you could always take it apart and attempt to throw it back together again as a bit of practice before you/if you upgrade :)

    Thanks guys,
Pretty much as I suspected. Well I have just started my Comp TIA A+ so taking it apart and putting it back together a few times should be fun.
    Cheers for the help

I think I have found what to use this for. Any thoughts on why I should not try this? or anyone ever done this?
