I haveto go under her as the sponsored person as I've been on my working holiday visa and dont have the relevent experience in my qualified field either.

not sure about other states but in NSW is Dept. of Community Services Caseworker or known simply as DoCS Caseworker.

I am not sure if that is classed as a Public servant job or not but sometimes when you are dealing with what you described as a Government Job it usually requires Citizenship or at least Permanent residency.

I thought they were meaning getting sponsored by the government for a job on 457, 176 is State sponsorship not Government sponsored.

Yeah, I assumed he meant state sponsored.
I was actually wondering about that the other day, how easy or hard it would be for people in public sector jobs to get sponsored on 457

some occupation's are listed on the 457 list, but as a policy the state governments wont employ you unless you are a PR.

    here is a good example

    On the 457 list
    Commissioned Police Officer 139113

but on the NSW Police webiste
    Am I eligible?

If not, it will be necessary for you to make inquiries with the Department of Immigration & Multicultural Affairs (DIMA). NSW Police Force will not offer or suggest the likelihood of employment for the purpose of assisting any individual to gain citizenship. Applicants who are New Zealand citizens who hold an SCV (Special Category Visa) do not need to obtain permanent residency.

Do I need to be an Australian Citizen to apply to join Victoria Police?

In ye're educated and intelligent opinion do you think a social care worker, BSc qualified and 5+ years experience would have the sufficent points to qualify for the govt sponsored visa?
