Cheers, where you out at the race?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,957 ✭✭✭digger2d2

Nope, was going to run it with my Brother but he backed out as he had something else on. Pacing a 10k tomorrow and a HM on Sunday so probably just as well as it takes a few days for me to recover. I guess the wind would have scuppered my sub 19 attempt anyway!

    Did you wear the Hagio's?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭thirstywork2

wore the Hagio's last three races.Take abit of getting used to as I would normally go for a race with abitmore cushioning.
Calfs do be a little tender for 2 days after but very comfortable and for an Adidas shoe have plenty of width.
What shoe you racing in yourself?

AM run(5miles) into sports med for my circuits with Mark Mcabe. To be honest I wasn't looking forward to it as I knew I hadnt done enough in the last 2 weeks since last being there.

Did a circuit mainly on my quads, gleuts and hamstrings.
Not ideal before my session this evening but had to be done.

Down to the club where we where told that tonight would be the last time on the polo grounds as you will now get fined if found on it.

    Session went really well,did 6 x 1k in 3.11,3.09,3.09,3.06,3.05,3.03
    recovery was 2mins !!!

2mile warm up & cool down.

For real? How the hell can they enforce that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭thirstywork2

Was abit of a shock alright.Jim Mcnamara running there 50 years and to be told he can't train there again.

Today I just ran 45mins,my bum was sore from the squats and swiss ball work.

Going to give racing a miss for a few weeks and concentrate on gym work 3times a week with one quality session and long run.

yesterday I went fora run with Meno after work.Straight away my left foot didnt feel right. As the run went on the pain got sharper and there was less conversation on the run from me.
I got home and iced the area and took pain killers.Today has been a nightmare as I am sure it's a stress fracture.

Any ideas best place to get an MRI?

TO ROUND OFF A GREAT DAY MY NUMBER 19 ARRIVED FOR THE SWORDS 10K

****. Hopefully it's nothing that serious. I think you need a referral letter from your GP for an MRI. You could try ringing vhi hospital in sandyford on spec

Balls. Have had two myself this year. Might be a stress reaction though? When i stayed off it healing was pretty quick (three weeks) when i kept coming back too soon i lost nearly 8.

    Got fingers crossed for ya.

Man I know its hard to do when you feel like you've done yourself in but you gotta relax and not let your imagination run wild. Ice the foot and massage the metatarsal area. If its still feeling ropey in a couple of days then I'd hit the sporst surgery clinic. Charlemount is cheaper, but you'll get more feedback and info from SSC.

Been a yough week doing nothing.Had to cancel my MRI friday(no babaysitter)

Did 25 miles ont eh bike today but foot sore after so going to back off.

passing time I did a count ont he first 100 runners over the line in the 10k race today.

    Stats:

61% in racing flats or minimal shoes.
    39% Training shoes

    Adidas Adios 9
    Nike Lunar 5
    Asics Ds Racer 10
    Brooks st5 7
    Brooks T6/T7 9
    Mizuno Musha/Precision 5
    Saucony Type A/Fastwitch 3
    Saucony Kinvara 3
    Puma 1
    Adidas Haggio 1
    New Balance 1
    Asics Hyper Speed/Pirahana 4
    Newton 1
    nike Streak 2

    Trainers
Asics Kayano the most used trainer in the top 100
Good few wearing 2160/2170 & ds trainer
Saucony,Mizuno & Adidas next 3 with very few Brooks which suprised me as they did well in the racing shoe category.

Can you tell how bored I am not training :D

Impressive dedication to the sport thirstywork even during your convalesence. However, your eagle eyes didn't capture my lovely LIDL bought crivit trainers that took me to 64th today.

Hope your back to 100% soon enough. I've been following your log and you've been putting in some quality training recently and getting the times to justify it.
