As the title says, 24 hours of offers starting tomorrow 10th November at noon on http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/

Basically, they have one special offer on their home page every hour for 24 hours.

I read on the page above:

    http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/
Oops. In all the excitement I bought a book I don't want.

That's fine. Don't panic - just let us know via the form or via our live chat system on our contact us page and we'll cancel the order for you.
I guess that means if they have a book I want its best to buy it straight away, then later pricecheck other websites and if I find it cheaper, just cancel the bookdepository order.

Hope the books which are on offer are recent books or bestsellers, and not books which are normally on sale in bookshops.

actually the offers mightn't be too bad as seen this on their webpage - looks like publishers are covering some of the cost of this promotion
Yes - we've done some very special deals with some very special publishers to get the Christmas shopping season off to a bang.

The first book will need to be a really good one (with a big price drop), or people aren't going to check the site past the first offer.

yea you're right, if the first doesn't have a massive price drop I doubt I'll keep checking every hour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭Jessica Fletcher

Yeah me too. Site taking forever to load and I can't even see what the first book was. Doesn't bode well

There's no way they could have sold out instantly, another scam to get people onto their site.

    Sounds like they're having issues:

As I figured, the website can't cope with the traffic.

I can get to the home page but don't see the discounted book anywhere !

can you write what's on there as twitter blocked in work.

same thing happened to me as others, logged in waiting to pounce, then it just went to sold out without seeing what it even was!

Wasnt worth the wait ... for me anyway ... its a book on cupcakes for €4.71

I thought this might happen all right. I got a message last week to keep the wishlist updated, so I was presuming that the special offers would be from that list.

Not a hope today though, I might look later. Though I'm not hopeful of getting anything. Why don't they just bring back the 10% discount code, it's so much better.

    You must be jesting.

Theis is just a masquerade for getting rid of old stock that no one wanted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 846 ✭✭✭tantipie

    feckin cupcakes after all that,,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 404 ✭✭paddyh117

well that was a waste of time - you'd imagine the 1st few books would have been the best to hook people in and get them coming back every hour

  • Registered Users Posts: 51 ✭✭newo

The same book is £7.01 on Amazon, I know it's a price difference but hardly the deal of the century.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭Sid_Justice

but is the basic premise very simply every day (or other time period) there will be a book on sale at smashing value? Like a bestseller instead of being 10 euro is now 1 euro. Or will it be a generic voucher.

I genuinely don't see the benefit of the former, you'd have to be very fortunate to want the book but the saving isn't massive to me.

What a let down. Will check back for the 1pm book. If no good wont waste checking it out later so they have one more chance for me.

WTF?? It's €10.40 on Amazon, hardly a bargain

Edit - sorry it's £10.40 on Amazon, still hardly a bargain.

Meh, deals so far have been quite disappointing, nothing out of the ordinary compared to their usual deals. That said it was worth it just to see the pop up of who is buying what, where it showed someone in Greece just bought The Ultimate EU Test Book - wonder is it Georges' new replacement? :D
