I'm looking at purchasing a blu-ray player for Christmas and next year hope to add a soundbar to the mix (I don't want 5.1 speakers as we've small kids and the cables would be a nightmare!). Is there anything I should look for in the blu-ray player to be suitable for adding a soundbar later? Also any recommendations/quotes for a blu-ray player welcome! ;) Am not interested in 3D and my budget is on the low side (around €100). I found a Panasonic one on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-DMP-BD75EB-K-Booting-Blu-Ray-Player/dp/tech-data/B004MPQR4M/ref=de_a_smtd), would you have anything similar?

    Hi there.

It depends on the type of soundbar that you are looking to add.

Most of the home cinema sound bars require a digital connection into the soundbar.

This can be done by the HDMI (connection permitting on the soundbar) or optical digital.

If you decide to go for one that just provides better TV sound and does not produce a home cinema sound, then you just need a stereo output from the blu ray. This is a left and right audio that nearly all blu ray players have.

It will depend on the soundbar.

I hope this helps and I have the same Panasonic player in stock or there is another alternative which is an LG player called the BD550.

This is a slightly better player than the Panasonic.

Let me know what you think.

    Regards

Thanks Dave, I went with the Panasonic Blu-Ray as DID have it on sale at the minute (so got it for just €80) but in terms of the soundbar, I'm willing to save for this so would be looking at a budget somewhere in the €250 region. I would be after the home cinema sound alright and as our sitting room is not massive and is square I'd say a soundbar should work pretty well in it. Is there anything you would recommend for this budget?
