Water freezing in winter

Right I heard tell that a cold winter is almost upon us. Last year my water froze as its a waven pip over ground at the joints (two places) and then when it emerges next to the house it runs along a shod wall tot he house and then along the wall of the house. Flippin thing froze regularly last year. Whats the best stuff to…

Whats the best stuff to wrap it in ? I dont want to go buy cheap insulating stuff and have to go tearing it off when it freezes again.
