The question is, does anyone know if it will work ok in Ireland?
i.e. is there any difference between the models sold in the US and UK/IRE/EU?

Finally, is there any other running gear that's hard to find in Ireland that's worth picking up in the US?

It'll work fine, except for the AC charger, but you can replace that with an AC USB charger you buy here, or else just charge it directly off a computer.

Garmins all work worldwide. Got mine on amazon.com also
