3 direct hits will kill a tank  Even if you hit top down which should complode any tank.

    its a bit crap alright.

If you had a one shot kill on Tanks it would completely devalue armour worth in the game. It's always taken a couple of AT shots to get tanks, although there were sweet spots in 42 & bf2. Same with snipers, if it was always a one shot kill all you would have is 32 recon v 32 recon and balance would be gone.

Not if it involved 2 people one with SOLFLAM and javelin. Also BF is the king of rock paper scissors, the thermal camo nullifies the javelin and solflam to extent.

A javelin is considered to be the best anti tank weapon in the world. It should be a 2 shot at best.

There is no balance in the recon class, slowest reload in the game without the benefit of one hit kills, it's pointless having a bolt action rifle without the advantage of a 1hk.

I can disable a tank with one well placed RPG. A pair of people with SOLFLAM and javelin can't. I also get more rounds than the Javelin and the javelin has to be unlocked.
Why would anyone use the Javelin, it has no use in the game.

For me, a SOFLAM-targeted Javelin hit on an Abrams was a one-shot disable - I don't think I managed to get off the second shot, so I couldn't see whether it would've gotten a two-shot kill.

Either way, so far, the Javelin's crap compared to an RPG/SMAW (Direct Attack with the Javelin would probably be better at long range) without the assistance of a SOFLAM - it's a shame that the SOFLAM targeting makes the thing worse :(

And you've just reminded me of another 2 gripes...
    (1) I really don't understand why the bolt action rifles (before unlocking the Straight Pull Bolt) won't automatically stop scoping for you to pull the bolt, rather than let you stay zoomed, looking like an eejit with an empty chamber >_>
    (2) I wish there was an option to toggle Aim Down Sights (or have I just overlooked it?) - while I've pretty much gotten used to holding RMB down at this point, I much prefer toggling iron sights since it's how I've played in just about every other FPS :(

Yes its in the option menu under game I think. Along with toggle crouch.

@Zillah, apoligies I must have mixed up your complaints with another.

On soflam aided javelins I think the bonus is that you dont have to be within sight of the tank in any form to hit it so to balance it they dont allow it to one shot them.

Compared to RPG's where if you stick yourself out blatantly in the open you can disable in one shot to the rear but you are exposed not just to the tank but also his support infantry.

In theory the javelin would be a better weapon when on the defensive.

Another downside to the Javelin is that you can't use it against infantry and you can't blow holes in walls/cover. The rockets are so much more versatile that I can't see any reason to choose the Javelin.

This is probably just me being bad at the game but it seems that it takes me 10 shots to kill an enemy but it takes 2 shots to kill me.

Make me sometimes wonder what I am doing playing this game. I am just cannon fodder.

When I first got the SMAW unlocked it was great, but after a while it went not so great, as I think the pilots unlocked "stealth" which means that less rockets will lock onto them.

What guns would you be both using?

I think you mean either the SA-18 IGLA or the FIM-92 STINGER, the Russian and US Surface-Air Missile. The SMAW is the US version of the RPG.

on xbox they've started wiping all boosters. One guy has started after it, 1 27 in, over 580k points already, needs another 580k or so to go to rank one ha

I usually play assault as healing / reviving gets me the most points. I have been using the M16 but have moved to the M416 recently.

Landing the hit is the problem, in my experience - I think the power is in a reasonable place (considering that you have to expose yourself far more than the unguided launchers would, or effectively remove a squad/teammate from the action to avoid that exposure), but I just don't see the SOFLAM-targeted missiles successfully hitting with any great regularity to make the weapon a decent alternative to the RPG/SMAW for ground targets or (with SOFLAM targeting, ofc) the Stinger for air targets.

I find it really annoying because it's such a fantastic-feeling weapon IMO - it is really fun to watch the missiles go straight up then plunge straight down onto the target (then agonising to see the missile veer away and miss a stationary target :pac:)

its da same for myself most of da time.. i love da way i come up to a guy and his facin a diferent direction, i start shootin him and he turns round and kills me with 2 bullets, no headshot. most likely lag but it sucks. i wish u could search servers by connection, da server u have bast connection to should be on top of list gettin worse and worse as u go down da list

My only real problem with the javelin is that you can only carry two missiles at a time. Realistically, with the unguided missiles, you can be sure of taking out a tank if you play really well. Realistically, with the javelin, that is almost impossible, and is based on pure chance.

Should have guessed it'd be **** based on the fact that no on uses the damn thing.

(Some) people are probably too pre-occupied using RPG's as anti-personnel weapons at short-mid range >_>

It depends on the weapon and his armour. For example, some "special items" give you better armour that takes longer to kill you. Many people prefer more ammo or the sprint option to this. Also, I think the UMP-45 is very strong close range, and I'm pretty sure it's full auto, where as some weapons are semi-automatic.

For example, the UMP-45 can shoot 600 rounds per minute at full auto, whereas the M16 shoots at 45–60 rounds a minute. semi-automatic.

So it depends on your weapon and your armour on how fast you kill, and how fast you die.

I'm not liking how it is totally ineffective at close range :/ At point blank it will not kill, and I think it needs 15 feet before it kills infantry.

Right I want to get in here , but this is a post for the elder statesmen not for ye young whipper snappers .

The guns and the unlocks , m16a3 , m4a1 , m26 , m416 ,m27 , mk11 , and thats just the M's . in my old age I am losing track of what I have unlocked and whats what and how the different guns feel and then I am switched teams and is that the gun I was using as engineer ? how am I still using that ? I thought I switched that ? I thought I atleast switched the scope ?

This is all ahead of ye guys

there has to be an upside to getting older but I haven't found it yet .......

If I'm understanding you correctly, I think it's because both factions each get their own loadout for each class, so any changes made to the US loadout won't be noticed when you next play RU (and vice versa)

You're talking to someone who loaded up a quad in BFBC2 with C4, and played chicken with tanks. I'm annoyed that I don't kill them, and they then kill me when I'm reloading/switching to a pistol.

I did that in 1942 with TNT and the jeep. :D

Tried it in BF3 and it didnt seem to have the same effect :(

I hate how people (especially the pilot) can bail out of a helicopter. You should be forced to face impact, with a chance of suvival depending on how bad the crash was. IF you bail, the rotors should chop you up >=)

Also, 24 players on console should be upped....

is that possible for an update?
