Out of all the rockers/bikers around at that time he stood out as being very polite with a mischievous sense of humour,

He will be missed by his family and anyone that knew him.

P.S. if you were drinking in O Mearas and the Ormond in the early 80's, I should know you.
I was one of those bikers/rockers of the time.

Lovely bloke Johnny. He could be contrary if he didn't like you. I knew his father and brother Paddy well too. He was only 52. I always imagined him to be older.

Great to see an improvement in the economic life of Nenagh in the last few weeks.

Mr Price open in the shop units near the old shopping centre.
New second hand/thrift shop across from JKCs.
New solicitor opened beside this second hand shop.
New health food shop in the old vodaphone shop beside the recently opened DV8 shop.
New hairdresser opening on Kickham street beside the credit union.
New business, Goliath packaging opened in half of the recently vacated Abbey machinery factory.

Its good to see these empty units being filled and hopefully some of the other empty units will get a new lease of life soon.

Ya its all good alright. What I would love is a new restaurant, the food world seems pretty static in Nenagh at the moment. An Italian that does good take-out would be great or a new Indian.

Pepe's does Italian take-away - not just pizza, but you can order pasta dishes as take-away. I find them very good.

here is the planning application, doesnt mention the type of Restaurant, as long as its not a fast food place, it'll be a welcome addition imo

    Hi all,

I've been offered a job near Nenagh starting soon, I had a quick look on daft there for a place to live but only 1 place came up. Would I be better off looking at the local paper or where else do ye think?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,241 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

    The local paper is http://www.nenaghguardian.ie

Check there and maybe ring the local estate agents( there are 3 or 4 in town)

Rental accom is scarce in town.

Best of luck in the search,

No there isn't, there was planning permission given for one in the streame development but alas it didn't go ahead.

If you are hearing about bowling in Nenagh there was a number of years ago an indoor bowls(not bowling) facility, but it didn't last very long.

Depends on what exactly you're looking for, where I work has an offer for today and tomorrow, Premium Polish Coal 40kg is €15 per bag. There's other quantity breaks on 3 bags of the Supertherm/Eco Coal. Best bet is to ring around and see who is the best value for money.

Anything suitable for a stove tbh, open to recommendations. Not sure on where to ring around Nenagh. :)

Proposals for a Topaz motorway service station on the outskirts of Nenagh have been rejected by An Bord Plealana.

    title
The fuel and retail chain were appealing an original decision by Tipperary County Council to refuse planning permission for the project.

The plans submitted by Topaz Energy Ltd were for an off-line motorway service area at Tullaheady to the south west of the town.

This would consist of six fuel pumps for cars and a 3 pump island for heavy goods vehicles along with a drive through restaurant, food court and a convenience store. The plans also included over a hundred parking spaces as as well as electric car charging points and a car wash facility.

However Tipperary County Council rejected the application citing traffic hazards and the potential for noise pollution among the reasons. The proposal was also deemed to contravene the North Tipperary County Development Plan and wasn't supported by a Retail Impact Assessment.

In upholding the local authority decision this week - An Bord Pleanala rejected Topaz's appeal on several grounds.

The planning inspectors ruled the location of the project was unsuitable, that access would be substandard resulting in a traffic hazard, it would impact negatively on a nearby dwelling, detract business from Nenagh and would set an unacceptable precedent for further such developments.

I got a tonne of coal delivered to Nenagh for €300 from a crowd in the North, if you want his details I'll pass them on to you.

I got coal doubles but AFAIK he sells several different types.
