Question about keyline and Adobe InDesign

    Hi there,

    I want to get some interlocking folders done for my business and in order to keep costs down I want to do the artwork myself using Adobe InDesign. I will get them printed then at my local printers. I have a question however.

    I asked the printer to send me on a blank canvas so I could work on the artwork. I received the keyline in PDF (see attached). Without sounding stupid, what do I do with this? Is it possible to import this to InDesign and work on it from there?

    Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Put it on it's own layer on top of your artwork and lock it. Then work away on your artwork beneath so you'll always be able to see where you are.

    Don't forget to add bleed! (3mm border extension of background around the diecut)

    That keyline is the Inside of the folder. If the print is only going on the Outside remember to flip the keyline horizontally in InDesign first. Also, the 2 small curved slits on the bottom flap are for holding business cards. Its a good idea to print the keyline and cut it out so you can make a little mock up. This will show you which way text will read in the print when its assembled and also avoid text being lost under the interlocking flaps.
