    Hi Dave/John

I bought a Denon 1910 off you just over two years ago and have run into issues with some Blu-Rays that I believe will have issues across a spectrum of AV Receivers. I PM'd you both this day last week and was hoping you might be able to give me some guidance?

    Thanks

    Smithy

PS. @ Mods, please feel free based on the PM's to move this to Tech forum, but felt it might be best posted here first. Thanks.

If this is a query to Richersounds in relation to an issue with an item you've bought from them, then you're in the right place :).

If you believe that this is a widespread issue with AV Recievers in general, then a discussion with other Boardies about that belongs elsewhere, probably the Home Entertainment Forum.

Note to all: Please leave it to Richersounds to answer this query.

    Cheers,

    Ritz.

Its an issue that affects a number of brands of AV Receivers that has been brought to light just recently with certain Bluray releases. However in my specific instance where I have the issue, yes, I bought it off Richersounds and am looking for guidance on support. Thanks.

Any feedback on this at all?

Can you also PM me with a price on a AVR2312 that you have on offer?

    Thanks

    Dear smithy,

as you can see from the amount of apologising I have been doing over the last few days we are behind answering boards posts - we are doing our very best to catch up at the moment and hope to be pretty up to date by tomorrow morning (you can have a look to see what time we finished answering posts at this morning to see we really are trying to catch up :o)..

...anyway I, personally was not aware of this issue but I've had a shifty around and I see that it has effected several brands of receiver, not exclusively Denon - unfortunately I have to report that such is the nature of our industry that whilst we and (most) manufacturers make every effort to ensure that products are compatable with current hardware and software, frequently later issues of hardware / software are not supported.

From what I can see, in Denon's case, they have done a firmware upgrade which appears to be completely successful in resolving this particular issue - however again to be frank - I am sure that in the future some other Blu-rays will have features that your receiver may not support and it may require further upgrades.

Denon, in common with pretty much every other specialist separate Audio manufacturer base their service centre for Ireland in the UK, I wish it were otherwise as it costs us a fortune to get kit over and back to these service centres - However without checking I'm pretty sure that Denon will support the 1910 on a free of charge basis ( as you can see from the time I'm sending this I'm too late to check as they're all away for the weekend - howeevr I'll mail them tonight and report back asap) - On this assumption - all you would have to do is to get the unit to us in Belfast and we will send it to the UK and back to you at our expense -Denon are normally pretty sharpish looking after service and upgrade issues, however you will be without it for a time unfortunately.

If you would like to PM (or of course) post your thoughts - we can take it from there - and also if you are still interested in a 2312..

Finally - apologies again for the delay :o:o,

    ATVB,

    John Mc

    Hi John

Thanks for the reply and the offer to send it back. I guess with HDMI specification being such a moving target along with copy protection, being able to self update is a real plus, but not something I ever considered two years ago.
Any idea of what the lead time would be if I sent it back to you? And, yes, please do PM me a best price on the 2312 or equivalent bargain (that might grab me).

Thanks again and I'd just like to again re-iterate that at no stage do I consider this issue anything to do with Richersounds. Maybe I should blame George Lucas and Fox Studios!!

    Thanks

    Smithy..

    Hi John

Smithy No problem - that's what we are here for!

Hey, seriously, don't blame yourself - EVERY model has some issue and really at this stage nothing is futureproofed - unfortunately it's just a feature of our industry! :o

Honestly no, I cannot promise a firm timescale as we dont use our own engineers and therefore it's out of our control and you have to add on at least a few days for collection and redelivery from Ireland to the UK - however Denon are one of the better companies - but to give you an indication ( please don't hold me to this) I wouldn't expect any change out of 3 weeks or so all in - if in the 1st instance you wanted to send me the s/number by mail or PM so I can at least log it with Denon to avoid any potential out of warranty issues, then you can probably get it back to us post Xmas and at least there is no risk of a silent Christmas....
And, yes, please do PM me a best price on the 2312 or equivalent bargain (that might grab me).

    Done...

No problem and thanks, very gracious and we appreciate it - lets hope we can get it sorted for you :)

    Keep me posted,

Sorry to slightly high-jack this thread, but it's in similar vein... I also have a 1910 bought from you guys. Is there any way that I can update the firmware so that I don't have to put you to the expense of all the shipping and handling, and me to the expense of being without it?
I also have a different issue with mine that I'm hoping firmware may solve.
