    next Fri 18th Nov sees the Launch of The Christmas Festival in Waterford -
    Switching on of the Christmas Lights by the Mayor escorted by Waterford Vikings, very apt for Ireland's Oldest City. Choirs, Bands, Wlr ourside broadcast, markets, make it a great Christmas in Waterford

    • 18th November – John Roberts Square, 4pm-6pm. official switching on of the Christmas Lights by Mayor Pat Hayes, a live WLR FM outside broadcast, supported by Q-Parks and Waterford City Council.
    • 18th November – Bank of Ireland, The Quay and George’s Street, 10am-8pm. Bank of Ireland Christmas Enterprise Week Gift Market and Food Fair, with local business showcasing the best of local produce, services, gifts and food to fulfil all your Christmas shopping needs.
    • 18th November-January 2012 – Traditional Christmas Carousel. Enjoy the festive cheer and childhood magic of a Traditional Christmas Carousel in John Roberts Square. The carousel will be officially switched on by the Mayor Pat Hayes. No booking required.
    • 3rd-22nd December - Christmas is a very special time at the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway. Santa visits the station every year with his helpers to meet as many children as he can.     • 3rd-11th December – Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs at The Theatre Royal. The Waterford Panto Society return for their annual production with the Disney favourite - Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. An evening of magic and mayhem is guaranteed once again as Waterford’s own Bryan Flynn puts his own unique spin on this classic tale.     • 2nd-22nd December – Get Crafty This Christmas at Garter Lane Arts Centre. The annual Christmas Craft Fair features all the traditional favourites from elegant wooden bowls to natural cosmetics and everything in between. Many items are unique and not available to buy anywhere else. Admission is free. Tuesdays to Saturdays: 10am-5.30pm, Sundays, 12.30pm-5.30pm, and closed Mondays except Monday 19th December.
    • 12th December – Christmas Crooners at The Theatre Royal. Returning to The Theatre Royal with a brand new show now in its sixth year “Christmas Crooners” features many of the Christmas favourites of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.     • 1st December-8th January 2012 – Waterford On Ice, Merchant’s Quay Car Park. Check out the web site www.waterfordonice.com for further details.
    • 5th-16th December – Hasbro Giving Tree, George’s Court Shopping Centre. Children can make a decoration to hang on the Hasbro Giving Tree and for each contribution Hasbro will donate a game to St. Vincent de Paul to give to children in need this Christmas.
    • 8th-25th December – Waterford City Council with the support of FAS will be displaying a new Christmas Nativity Crib outside the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity. The new display will be an exciting new annual feature to Christmas In Waterford.
    • 10th December – WLR FM Lions Club Appeal official launch with an outside broadcast from John Roberts Square, 2pm-5pm. The appeal auctions will take place from 10am-6pm on 19th, 20th and 21st December.
    • 16th-24th December – Annual Christmas Market returns to Little Patrick Street and Broad Street. There will be a variety of stalls offering local homemade food and handcrafted products. Open Monday to Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 8am-6pm, Sunday 12pm-6pm and Christmas Eve 10am-3pm.
    • 17th December – WLR FM Christmas Carol Concert in aid of the Lions Club Appeal. This year the concert will take place in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity at 4pm.
    • 18th December – Civic Carol Service at 4pm, admission is free. Waterford’s most popular and longest running carol service features the choir of Christ Church Cathedral and the City of Waterford Brass accompanying your favourite carols. Early arrival is advised.     • December – Waterford City Street Busker Entertainment, supported by McDonalds Waterford. Every Friday and Saturday throughout the month of December, from 5pm-8pm, in the run up to Christmas, local musical talent will be showcased around the City Centre. Come in and enjoy the free entertainment.
    • 8th-24th December – Christmas Memorial Tree in John Roberts Square. Buy a Christmas bow and hang it on the Christmas Memorial Tree in memory of a loved one. Organised by the Rotary Club with all proceeds going to Waterford Hospice.
