Just a simple question. What do you think about the Welsh? Surely you have got an opinion on them.

A Welsh guy once said to me
"we're similar - Celtic countries and all"

    I replied "Wales isn't a country - it's only a glorified county council"

    End of conversation :)

I know two welsh people who sound like English people, no trace of Welsh in them at all!! They don't think of Wales as a country and see the language as a waste of time. They consider themselves British as opposed to Welsh. It surprised me really because I thought that Welsh people would be really into their culture etc.

They have a great sense of humour. I'm thinking both of individual people I know and some of the comedians they've produced.

I asked the question, haven't I. Merely to gauge your opinion. Distinguish and distinction.

That you did, but there's an expectation to provide your own along with that.

I lived in Cardiff for 2 years between 07 and 09. I thought they were a great bunch, really friendly and very similar to Irish people.

Disagree entirely. Send the Irish to be hit first, hardly a likeness.

The Welsh all have surnames which end in S.

Their native language produces plenty of phlegm in the throats and mouths of those who speak it.

They think they invented rugby even though they didn't.

The leek is their national symbol although they don't know why.

They are prone to breaking into English people's houses and stealing pieces of beef and almost anything else they can lay their grubby hands on.

That is it. Ask a question and you learn. Where is Dravokivich from! Some of it was informative or educational. Should have read it before.

Many Welsh are into their culture. The Welsh language is thriving too. It's undeniable that large areas of Wales are now inhabited by English people. Generations in fact. But don't go by two English sounding Welsh friends you may have. I know a few welsh in Galway and they can all speak fluent Welsh and are proud of their identity. :)

I've no opinion on the Welsh myself, I've never had any interaction with them. Though, for a while there when I thought you were Welsh, I wondered were they all just as obnoxious.

The Welsh have a lot of pride and respect for their native language and Celtic heritage whereas the Irish loathe theirs.

The Irish are very intelligent. Are we all Celtic? Celtic heritage wht are the commonalities. Share a common ancestry, perhaps the Irish realise this is not the case.

Seems like a few folk here were asking the OP questions just to get some context,
So OP why are you asking this - Cardiff University?

That doesn't answer the question, so are you going to Uni there, have gone? and had a bad experience with the Welsh.. the Welsh you've met of course.

Your answers to questions don't make any sense. We are none the wiser to understanding where you are from, are you Welsh, what is your beef with the Welsh, what exactly does saying "Cardiff University" mean and I don't think we will ever know, or really care anymore.

Hmmm, but we could play that game I suppose....
