    Park a car in Carlingford....

Go to the lumpers... and walk from there to Carlingford over the mountains

Great walk, maybe 4-5 hours depending on stops etc

Not too difficult for beginners and the Americans will appreciate all the views along the way

That's a great walk, though can be tough at the start if you're not used to it.

Could park in Carlingford and head up to the saddle, go left and behind Eagles Rock, follow the Tain way and you go through the abandoned village. I'm sure Americans would love to see that.

I would love to see that abandoned village myself.
Do you know the name of it so I can look it up on a map?
    Many thanks.
