help a beginner out?

1 budget is around 500-600
2 i want it for gaming. if possible id like to be able to run bf3 and skyrim on ultra but that seems unrealistic to me given my budget.
3. yes i need a copy but im a student so i think i get it cheaper?
4.i have an old dvd drive from like 2006 so i might have to get a new one.
5. no i have one
5b. not entirely sure what res it is. its a hd tv with a hdmi port and its a 22inch tv
6. i need a wireless card and card reader although i have a laptop so a card reader might not be essential?
7.im new to building a pc and pc gaming so i wouldn't know what im doing.
8.credit card / paypal i suppose although i could do a bank transfer.
9.at the minute im just trying to gauge how much it might cost. maybe before christmas if all goes to plan.
10. i think i could assemble it between myself and a friend.

i hope ive got the layout right. i found a few builds on youtube and around the internet but im not sure if i would trust them. i was hoping this would last a while without having to be updated and if that means investing a bit more money id consider it. thanks for the help in advance.

Hard drives are massively expensive right now, so your options are to get a small SSD and use an old HD or an external for storage, or to wait 6-12 months for the prices to come down. You can get windows 7 for €45 as a student.

thanks allot i didnt see this before i updated my post do you think this would run games like battlefield 3 on ultra or at least high? also i have an external hard drive so that shouldnt be a problem.

Then you want this build.

Deconduo left room for a keyboard and mouse, as well as Windows. If you want an aftermarket CPU cooler you can also pick a decent one up for about €20.

Side note: don't get a keyboard from HWVS, it'll be German layout.

ok and this will run newer games on ultra?
i can always add a hard drive later yes? im sorry if these questions are stupid but im new to this.

You could add a few hard drives any time. USB 2 is quite slow so you'll have to put up with this performance setback in load times for games until you get another drive. Alternatively, you could take the hard drive out of the external shell (this might void the warranty) and use it full speed as an internal drive.
Windows will load up fast on the SSD, but make sure that the SSD is the only drive connected when you install it (Windows).


You should be able to run BF3 fine at ultra with a 6950 + 2500K, although you may need to scale back the anti aliasing to medium, according to some sources but may be due to a driver bug which would hopefully be fixed later.
