1st sorry if this is the wrong place. Wasn't to sure where to ask.

At the moment i'm paying about €130/Month for my TV/Phone/Broadband.

I'm looking to drop the TV/Phone and just pay for BB.

But I dont wan't to lose the use of the TV.

    It's a new LED MPEG4 TV :)

    Here my question(S)

What stations can I get for free
    How do I get these ? -
Movies are not a problem as I've a ton on my PC
Sports - Are there sites (legal) that will let me stream matches ? - Maybe a paid subscription website that doesn't cost as much as UPC

I'll have a really fast internet connection and I can pay for some new hardware - But at the end of the day I want a much cheaper bill without losing all my TV.

I know I'll lose Sky movies/Sports etc But movies is not really worth it and I'm hoping the Sports can be streamed as well.

I know there is Soarview and free to air. But can they be streamed ?

Any tips on how to lose UPC and still have a good few stations would be great,

    Thank you.

i imagine you'd be better off asking the question in one of the cable or digital tv forums.

Saorview gives you free Irish stations. (needs Ariel and set top box)
Freestat gives you free UK stations (needs sat dish and set top box)

You might be able to skip the set top box for both if you TV supports them. If not you'll a set top box.

Have you called UPC to see if they'll do a price reduction.
I was on 105 back in March and I'm on 65 now partially due to broadband getting cheaper but also due to them cutting the price of my tv so I wouldn't cancel.
    My bill is:
    €55 for 100mb broadband
€7.75 service charge ( I count this separate because I can cancel my TV but I'd still be stuck paying this)
    €2.20 for basic digital tv

most of rte can be streamed via rte player or watched later.
For the uk stuff use a proxy to watch the itv player,BBC player or demand 5
Filmon is quite good for watching uk tv,it has an ipad and Android app.

What do people suggest for streaming ? Like what player.

I thought i'd be able to buy a streaming box of some kind and there would be a cheaper paid online service that I can use to watch TV,

Tv3 player actually works on most of Sony's newer TV's that have internet.
Otherwise just look for a solution whereby you download what you want to watch, transfer to USB and play on your tv withe the USB key it's stored on.
