    Match day XV:
    Poitrenaud
    Clerc
    Fritz
    Jauzion
    Medard
    Beauxis
    Burgess
    Picamoles
    Dusautoir
    Bouilhou
    Maestri
    Lamboley
    Johnston
    Servat
    Montes

Subs: Botha, Falefa, Poux, Millo-Chluski, Nyanga, Galan, Vergallo, McAlister

6-2 split on the bench, Beauxis at fly-half; they're not coming here to play pretty, flowing rugby.

**** me! Not taking anything lightly anyway! That is some squad and bench!
McSharry and Griffin against eh, Jauzion and Fritz, with McAllister to come on!

What a test for Griffin and McSharry assuming they start Tonetti might come in to the lineup hopefully to the bench ahead of fa'fili

Anyone have spare tickets for this game, or know where I could get any?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 625 ✭✭✭theKramer

They were on sale on ticketmaster even earlier in the week, but probably sold out now. Maybe worth having a look. I doubt anyone who has a ticket will be letting go of it :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,166 ✭✭✭✭Zzippy

Sold out, but I'm sure there will be a few tickets floating around beforehand, there's always people let down by someone who said they would go and then didn't. Try the pubs during the afternoon, there will be plenty of fans drinking in O'Connells, Garveys, Pucan, etc from 3pm I'd say and you might get lucky. Otherwise, outside the ground there should be people trying to offload spare tickets.

    I'm a bit shocked at 5&6.

Ofisa must not be over that knock from last week.

Is Paul O'Donohoe the 1st choice scrumhalf these days?
I know ppl were not always happy with Frank Murphy last year.

It's been a while since McCarthy has started in the back row. The upside of this is the physicality he brings and we then have 4 options in the lineout.

I fear for Connacht a little bit in this.
    Huge mismatches everywhere.
If Toulouse are on song it could be a big win.
9&10 are particularly a worry, I just don't rate POD at all.

Connacht v Toulouse is a huge mismatch, never mind individuals, but we were supposed to get beaten out the gate in London last week and look what nearly happened. If they bring that intensity and defence it won't be easy for Toulouse. I'm a lot more worried about the scrum than about POD/Nikora.

I've never been that impressed with Murphy, but he was very good last week when he came on, so surprised myself that he didn't get the nod, I reckon Elwood rates him more as an impact sub, to get things moving in the second half.

Delighted to see him stick with the centre partnership, its a huge test for them but I'm looking forward to seeing how they do.

POD's physicality would be suited to a physical match against Toulouse

    My 2 cents worth

Bouilhou, a la Harinorduquy and Bonnaire for France makes Toulouse's lineout tick, he's the main man there. By putting McCarthy to 6, our best linoeut operator, it gives us the opportunity to curb this.

It's also going to be a wet day so it's a day for the heavy forwards, Ofisa is more of a hard ground player. Muldoon was superb at 7 last week and he has the power to match Dusatoir.

I'm happy with the selection. O Donoghue and can stand up to Burgess physically, or moreso than Frank anyway. If we need to add pace to the game in the 2nd half we have Ray and Franky on the bench

Think I might have got one ticket now, thanks to Leeroy Brown.

Still on the lookout for one more ticket. If anyone can point me in the right direction, that'd be great.

Otherwise I'll just go to the pub nearby before and see what happens.

    Thanks

Even scarier when you look at the line-ups like this!

Yet I still believe we can put it up against them!

Who wrote the blog? Whoever it is would nearly convince you Connacht have a chance. He writes this of Medard, "He is back in his favored position on the wing tomorrow but will have to be on top form to get the better of Tuohy." FFS I hope Connacht don't get smashed tomorrow evening.

Whats the weather like for the match?

yes because writing it with defeatist overtones would be soo helpful:rolleyes:

of course we have a chance, its a game of rugby. odds are stacked mightily against but so was the game v harlequins and look how close we came to a win,im not saying we are favourites/level pegging for a win but no team goes out expecting a defeat and besides, stranger things have happened

I just thought he went a bit overboard on his praise and traits of some of the Connacht players is all. Is it Rob Murphy that wrote the piece?

agreed, i laughed at some of it but saying that it would convince you we have a chance is what i took exception to

Doesn't need to slam them, a bit of cop on would be nice though.
Each one ends with something like, "yeah sure Poitrenaud has scored 4 million tries for France and 8 million for 3 time winners Toulouse, but he'll have his work cut out against Tiernan O Halloran who scored a try last week"

The Medard one is particularly hilarious! I'm sure Medard will be quaking in his boots at the might of Brian Tuohy!

Another one is "The scrum will be very important tomorrow and this is a position where Connacht may have an edge."

The irony is that Medard is the kind of guy who will probably HATE playing there if its incredibly wet and windy!

Good luck to Connacht, its a great compliment from Toulouse to send over such a strong side to Galway.

while it is a bit silly season some of it its not that inaccurate,
there is a real buzz going round the place after the display of our backline v harlequins, Griffin, TOH, McSharry, Duffy and Nikora played some unreal stuff that wouldn't look out of place in any other provinces backline. Toulouse are Toulouse and to say that they will be dreading our backline is silly, but if they don't give us the respect that a lot of teams don't then there is loads of potential for a surprise

Our scrum is an area of strength for us and especially if ah you can find his form of old than anything is possible. have to realise that everything that is wrote there is going to be optimistic, especially as this occasion this is huge for Connacht. Who of thought ten years ago, when they tried to shut down the province that we would be hosting Toulouse in the HC, so excuse us if we get a little carried away.

Now im off to play my own game then take a hopefully fast bus to galway.

    C'MON CONNACHT

Hahaa agreed 100%, also when he said that if Nokora has another performance like last weekend Connacht will be well on their way to a good result!!! I mean come off it. So basically if the mighty Nikora turns up Toulouse who have 19 internationals in their 23 man squad should be quaking in their boots. The scrum bit was hilarious too. I'm from Connacht myself but I mean seriously bit of realism never went astray
