Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Breastfeeding is an important part of a babies development and bonding with the mother. I know there's formula milk available but the child may have social problems if he was never breastfed.

Only 50% of women in this country breastfeed! And that's on leaving the hospital, many stop very soon afterwards.
That's a lot of social problems!

Short answer No, long answer No.

As a child is developing it needs a role model from both genders in a loving relationship to build a picture of it's role in life and relationship with the opposite gender. I'm not saying that gay parents will always have gay children, but it gives a false image of the world and confuses the child. What role model would a girl have for herself raised by two gay men?

at least she'd have a savage wardrobe.

I dont get the "gays shouldnt adopt" thing at all, good parents are good parents, their sexual orientation shouldnt even be a factor. straight people dont all make good or bad parents and neither do gay people. are people worried having two gay parents will turn a kid gay as well? or just the lack of a female figure will warp them?

America is a fascist empire, content on inposing its will on the world, and exploiting resources at the expense of all on this planet

Its a country with no race, language, culture or unique heritage,
Just collection of different races thrown together into commercialist melting pot

    A sh*thole,

While dont like see any die over politics

They had 9/11 coming to them for along time beause its 9/11 every day in the middle east due to their foreign policy

    :D

This is one of the most ironic posts in aaagggeesss

The part that I bolded was used by the fascist empires of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan as propaganda against America. The stuff underlined was used as the justification for Pearl Harbour.

This fascist propaganda declared that because of the culturally wortlessness of America, that Americans would have no real stomach for war (unlike the strong willed Germans and Japanese). Despite having an unfair distribution of the world's resources, they would never put them to use to destroy enemies that they were afraid of.

    Liberators-Kultur-Terror-Anti-Americanism-1944-Nazi-Propaganda-Poster.jpg

Having said all that, the USA can be annoying in the way they throw their weight around occasionally.

Old British architecture in Ireland is more impressive than recent Irish architecture.

Also the line "kids will bully no matter what" doesn't wash in my view, all kids will go through trials and tribulations but the majority wont have to contend with the confusion and utter embarrassment of having a mam/dad in a same sex relationship.

The thing is that we stop people adopting kids on the grounds that their home situation MIGHT lead to bullying gives us a scenario where nobody gets to adopt.

Like every single argument against gay adoption, it's stupid, short-sighted and utterly worthless.

Which in and of itself is an unpopular opinion, I'd guess.

Agreed, but older architecture is more impressive than new stuff everywhere, because only the special stuff survives for centuries and is deemed worth preserving. Walking around the City of London is a lot nicer than walking around the extremely expensive state of the art buildings blocks in Canary Wharf imo.

It's very enheartening how unpopular the notion of gay people not being allowed to adopt is. Or in other words, how popular the notion that they should be entitled to adopt. It makes me glad to live here, and wonder how these things haven't come to pass (yet !).

Anyway, sorry for the off topic bit, I have an opinion that proved very unpopular on some forums, that retailers have to take some responsibility for the mess they are in too. It's not just the infamous rates.
They were part of the rip off Ireland culture, and showed very little adaptability and initiative when the going got tough.
Thankfully the fittest and clever(est) have survived.

    [Quote=Dudess;

They're mostly not unpopular or even opinions, just facts (some extremely obvious)/assumptions being presented as fact, without evidence.
Who the hell would care if you asked an African person where they're from? But in fairness while you know the continent, you're not going to know the country - it's not always Nigeria.

Personally I'd sometimes post something on Facebook for likes, but extremely rarely on Boards, seeing as it's a totally different platform - a discussion forum. I don't get where that notion/obsession about thanks comes from - what about the years and years there was no thanks system here?
Just because you post only for thanks, that means everyone else does, is it?[/Quote]
Why do I need evidence, I never called them facts, you did.

As you disagree with them, they are unpopular opinions, and are therefore valid. ( in my little world anyway)

The fact that a person is prepared to go to prison or even die for a belief or cause does not make that belief above scrutiny, criticism, condemnation or ridicule.
Even if they plan on returning?

How do you propose they go about proving that ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 758 ✭✭✭whydoibother?

By all means give them back the vote if they do return.

The idea that life emerged from inanimate material (abiogenesis) is crackers.

Scientists cling to this theory despite no evidence and its implausibility.
