I think Star Wars: Episode I is actually pretty good, and the best of the prequels.

kathern lynch is a loud fat annoying b***h, and not even mildly amusing.

gay byrne is a patronising old w***ker.

ray darcy is turning into gay byrne.

why do people make such a big deal about saving the whales and dolphins?? what about all the other fish, why discriminate? because dolphins are cute is it? they swim beside you? ooooooh! bet you could easily swim alongside a shoal of ordinary old fish too.

climate change is just life. was bound to happen. its nature. so we are speeding it up a bit, so what? we are people, its just nature.
ireland was once had a tropical climate, then twas freezing in an ice age. its always changing. such is nature.

people who believe its ok for women to travel to another country to have a termination, or you believe its ok to allow rape victims to have a termination, but not in any other case are hypocritical a**holes. you either agree or you dont, make a choice and stick with it. (i believe it should be allowed in this country, btw!)

i shall post again!!

I think the (genuine) protestors at the "Occupy" protests are naive fools.

They act as if the way the system has worked for decades is something new and surprising and i find their calls for "fairness" to be a tad childish. The world isn't fair, never has been and never will be. If they got into power tomorrow they'd act exactly the same way as the people there now.

I fully support their right to protest but their message is just delusional.

Charismatic megafauna

I think Premier League footballers deserve every penny they get. Top level football is an entertainment business and they are the stars in a relatively short insecure career, not the club directors. No one complains when Tom Cruise or Adam Sandler gets $20million+ for every movie they make.

Still wouldn't watch much football though

you mean you don't like the 'commit' part? What do you say - ''they tried to kill themselves''? It just seems a bit too blunt to me :pac:

It is what it is.

I did the ASIST suicide intervention course and its hard to get into your head but being blunt straight up without being hurtful is the best way to go.
I would have to ask someone after listening to them enough that ive noticed something im worried are you thinking of killing yourself and wait for a yes or no answer.

Actors/actresses, singers, footballers etc etc etc... - none of them should be earning the ridiculous wage they receive.

It is absolutely disgusting to think what money they are making, when there are people starving all over the world.

Social workers, aid workers, and others like that should be earning more money than the feckin celebs ffs.

Brilliant thread; My unpopular opinions;
the Office - either version - pure tripe as is all reality TV
Asylum seekers should be allowed to stay & work
If you took out a 100% mortgage on a property over 250K then make the payments. If you cant then the deeds should be handed over to the state.
Water charges are a great idea - so is the household charge
All bin/utility etc should be state ran
college fees need to be reintroduced
Travellers should be allowed to live on halting sites
You should not be allowed to oppose someone's planning permission for a house they intend to live in
Tds do a good job; senators do not
Off licenses prices should be subject to a 60% VAT rate
The private sector has been to blame for the recession
Juries are a bad idea
Regional airports in a country this size make no sense
If you intend to sue someone you should have to lodge a deposit of 20K with the court & if you lose then the court gives it to a good cause
Maternity leave should be a year & a half
Pubs should have less choice - guinness on draft & the rest on the shelf should be enough for anyone.

Thread title needs to be changed to "Negative views/assumptions I hold". Some of these views are about as unpopular as The X Factor.

Although it's not unpopular to say The X Factor is sh1t either.

Why? An opinion is a subjective belief, which may or may not be backed up by references/evidence. 6 of one half dozen of the other really.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Post edited to explain. :)

Although an opinion is something that's neither right nor wrong - too many people state that something which is fact or fiction (usually the latter) is their "opinion". An assumption isn't an opinion.

I think if endangered animals are endangered, let them die off - it is the natural way of the world.

I'd agree with that except in cases where man has caused or largely contributed to their endangerment without any benefit to us or attempts at maintain the population.

I believe that atheists who actively seek to do away with religion and convince religious people to recant are wasting their time, even if they act with good intentions.

I believe that religious belief stems from an innate human desire for there to be a system to explain and put a structure on the universe, and for there to exist something greater and more interesting than reality as we perceive it.

Though I'm not equating them with religious belief, belief in the supernatural and conspiracies stem from the same desire.
Even if religion were done away with, there will always be people willing to believe in irrational things, even if they fly in the face of clear facts. It's just human nature.

I also believe that though Richard Dawkins is incredibly intelligent, especially in terms of evolutionary biology, he has a poor grasp of basic human psychology, particularly in his apparent lack of understanding of the appeal of religion and why religious people are unlikely to be convinced by him.
By serving as a popular spokesman for atheist thought, he probably does the movement more damage than good.
The same goes for P.Z Myers and his childish publicity stunts.

Pro-choice people who use euphemisms like "bundle of cells," and split hairs about when life truly begin do the belief a disservice.

I believe that they should accept that abortion involves the death of a somewhat undeveloped child and that it should still be the mother's right to choose this.

history of the holocaust should be reviewed...

a lot of the figures are wrong...like the 6 mil..was closer to 5...

im not a denier, just think no history should be untouched...like many allied atrocities get over looked

Hmmm,
The most unpopular opinion I have is that I think generally people are as*holes. Especially with opinions. Such as boards is a good example.

Everyone seems to know everything and is always right. Remember the Japanese earthquakes last year? in that thread I never knew we had so many Nuclear specialists using boards.

Another massive unpopular opinion I got is about the Personal / Relationship issues forum on here. Such advice given is totally the opposite of helping someone. Its filled with such naiveness & unrealistic rationalization. Often users bash the op rather than helping him.

* The issue of Human Rights far trumps that of Animal Rights. Sure, I'm not saying there is not some shocking abuse of animals and that animals should be treated with respect but there a parts of a world where a human being has less rights than a dog in other parts of the world. This is wrong. Sort out the whole issue of human rights first THEN we can look at animal rights.

* Things are not as bad as the media would lead you to believe

* I hate the concept of nationalism / patriotism. Just because I was born in one country, does that REALLY mean I have to spend my whole life blindly serving that one country?

* I really do not like the fact that in many parts of the country, unless your an alcoholic, there is fcuk all else to do!

* The likes of Georgia Salpa and Megan Fox are not really all that.

French is a horrible-sounding language. German is much nicer and sounds cleaner. Also the grammar is easier (f*ck you French!!).

Twitter is an annoying piece of cr@p for attention seekers.

I find the Beatles boring. I understand how they contributed to music, I know their music is good, but I just don't personally enjoy it.

In general, music has gone downhill in the last century or so. Classical music is still miles more enjoyable than any of the sh!te around today.
