    looks like an audio socket for speakers, there may be a sound system in another room and that's an extension for the speakers to play in a different room.

    Do I win a prize?

    Way back when,...... We would install the bones of a multiroom audio system in apartments and then the new owner would be given a contact number if they wanted the job finished. These audio outlets would be part of it.

    Perhaps your in a similar situation.

    Could you give us a clearer picture nearer the hole? I've seen that recently where behind the plate was the valve for the gas fire.....
