Hey folks, One month ago i dropped my Sigma 10-20mm lens into a camera shop in Cork (I wont name it yet) for a cleaning because there was dust inside the elements. One week later (after being told it would take 2 days) i received the lens back. There was still dust inside the lens and the auto focus would no longer work (i have a D5100 so rely on inbuilt focus motor.)
Obviously i wouldnt accept the lens back because the AF wasnt working. I called them last week and they told me it would be done by Friday. I still havnt heard from them.

It will be a month this friday from when i first handed the lens in. Im growing more confident in the fact that these guys dont know how to fix lenses. They seem to specialise in Mobile Phone and laptop repair but have DSLR and Lens repair advertised on their website.

I am thinking about calling them tomorrow and asking them to pay for a repair at one of the Major Camera Stores in Cork or to replace the lens. One month is a disgrace at this stage.

    UPDATE:
Called in today and they told me that there is no way that i can prove the Autofocus issue didnt when i handed it in first. Why would i have a lens cleaned if it didnt autofocus. Surely i would ask them to fix the autofocus if it were broken. I know 110% that the AF was working when i handed it in on day one anyway.

Currently they are refusing to fix the autofocus system that they broke. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Sigma parts tend to take ages to get for some reason so that may be a cause for delay, if it is that they should be telling you that though. (I had a Sigma 70-200 away for repair recently that took 6 weeks, 5 and a half were spent waiting on the part.)

If you live near I'd go and speak to them face to face about it.

Go in for the kill, and get legal on them. They didn't fix the problem, and probably broke the camera in the process. I wonder what else in the camera doesn't work?

Is there any chance that they "turned off" auto-focus somehow (no idea if it can even be done)?

Its the lens i handed in, not the camera. Things seem to be sorted out now. Im not going to go into detail because there is a VERY strong chance that there will be legal proceedings out of this if things dont work out the way they promised me it will work out.
