Ive noticed this evening my phone is switching between H+ and 3g. What exactly is H+? Better or worse than 3g? Did a speedtest 1.6up and 1.2 down, not very quick but the ping was way down. Im with Meteor in Dublin, with a galaxy s 2.

H just means you have high speed access to your phone

Yes, this is HSPA+ your seeing but speeds have not been enabled nor are they selling supported handsets.

    What handset are you using?

OP said an SGS2 - this supports up to 21 Mb/sec HSDPA
Would a fully "up" HSPA+ network enable these type of speeds on HSDPA -iykwim ?

What happens is the base network sits as 3G (for the purpose of this example). This provides a higher voice codec, meaning better call quality. When you use any data, HSPA kicks in, providing faster speeds than base 3G. It's a layered network. Voice/network as 3G, data as HSPA.

I wasn't aware that Meteor had H+ or LTE so it may just be a phone icon more so
