Wow cyning - that's both utterly terrifying and amazingly exciting, and that's coming from someone else! I can only imagine how you feel!

Silly, your hubby deserves a slap! I would have been very annoyed if mine changed his mind at the last minute! Not much chance of that though. We're currently having great fun finding positions that actually work - it doesn't help that he's a full foot taller than me. Cue plenty of giggles :)

Jealous!! I feel both disgusting and scared at the thought of them activites.

Disgusted because of my huge belly,
Scared because the last time it made me bleed..

    But i sooo want to!

We've been trying to figure out some comfortable positions too...I feel hugely self conscious so that rules out a few positions.
It's fun trying to figure it out tho!
Another reason why I prefered the second trimester to the third or first!!!!

I shave my own legs: albeit not in the shower anymore!! As for down below couldn't care less :D Honestly I've had a few exams down there already and I was so sick or worried I didn't care at all, and as Nyquist said: stubble and stitches

Kildareash the last 29 weeks definately have not flown for me at all! What is starting to really really freak me out is if my endo is right I'm going to have a baby in the next 6 weeks. 6 weeks. Like honestly: 6 weeks. I really hope he's wrong (so does he!) but..... 6 weeks.

Actually I'm off to look at my hosp bag again. Just in case :p

:eek::eek::eek::eek: and I thought 10 weeks was scary!!!

just back from my appointment, left waiting an hour and a half, only to be brought in to be lectured about wanting to change doctors again after that antidepressant thing, told my blood test from January yr grand (it would want to be like or they just left me four months to tell me that something was wrong?!) refused to scan me, even though last scan was Christmas, had to row to get them to give me an appointment for a scan next month. I'm actually fit to punch the whole of the ****ing hse in its stupid face >:(

6 weeks Cyning, holy bejesus. I think I still have 13 or 14 left!

OH & I aren't doing the deed at all. We're both too wussy to try it while preggers. We did try it once but we were both so self conscious that it was a total waste of time in terms of results :D so as I'd said ages ago, as soon as I'm healed we're having a dirty evening away in a hotel or something. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Having said all that, I did get a wax some weeks ago, not cos he has to look at it or because I was due any exams, it was just cos it was something I could do to feel groomed! I don't feel very glamorous these days at all.

I'll probably keep up the bikini waxes throughout the rest of the pregnancy & for the birth etc, it's about 20 euros & it's not a brazillian or hollywood or anything. Only thing I'll say is that I reacted a bit more to it on my skin since getting pregnant!

I'm quite hairy and I can't shave as I get a 5 o' clock shadow and ingrown hairs and it's always just a disaster. Can't do home waxes, have tried several times.

As an aside, OH & I went looking at buggies again in Euro Babies & Tony Kealys. We both came away more confused, overwhelmed & exhausted! It did not go well.

The cheaper ones more in our range were mostly all fine except they were incredibly heavy, and with my back... forget it. The lighter ones that are actually good buggies are just too expensive for us.

So anyway, at least we know we're definitely not getting Silvercross or Graco as they're far too heavy. And whatever we're getting will be 2nd hand.

Oh my god, they sound like a horrible bunch!! Do they not realise that a pregnant woman is not just another patient, but a very important carrier of a human being - i.e the most important patient they will ever have!
Its a long time to wait for a scan! I feel for you Nyquist - I hope you meet nicer staff on your next visit.

i dont know anything about Euro babies but i can recommend Tony Kealy's. They are so into their safety - its not even funny. They will not let you leave the building without knowing everything about your buggy and unless they can see that you can fit your car seat properly etc.
We were speaking to a guy from Be Safe car seats yesterday at the fair and he said that even the RSA get onto Tony Kealy's re car seat safety..

That's terrible Nyquistfreak. Was that in the hospital? That's no way to treat someone.
I had to wait 12 weeks between my first hospital appt and the last one, but now they want to see me in 4 weeks time. Even tho everything is fine.
I think u shld complain, you deserve better care than that.

Have any of ye started to wash baby clothes/blankets/sheets yet?
Is it too early? Heading to the co op after work and was going to get a big box of ariel non bio.
I got a load of baby sheets/towels and blankets from my sis, so they all need to be washed.

Nyquist that's awful....you should complain.....is there anyway you could get a private scan done? I've had two done privately as I wasn't happy so after speaking with my GP she just recommended to get a couple done privately. The HSE seem to have an awful attitude towards pregnant women. It's like they don't care or something, they just assume everything is ok because they can't see it.

I wouldn't say it's too early. I've washed most of the babygros and vests, just have to iron them! Reminds me I need to get some blankets. I only have one that my
    Mum crocheted for me.

Doc has signed me off for the week :( I slipped a disc a few years ago and he said I've flared that up again. He thinks I'm going to have problems with it from here on in. He even said I might have to finish up work earlier than I planned. Going to get some physio and be extra careful and hopefully I'll last the distance.
I know it was sitting in the car for two hours that did it, why can't they make lumbar friendly car seats????

I'd still be inclined to believe the babyscan, their machines are much more high tech

That was in the maternity in Limerick, every time I go in to them the more the idea of home birthing appeals to me!
OH and I were discussing private scan over lunch, we're going for one next Monday at a place there in town, Id always been odd about the price of them, but after today now (and the few bob we saved getting the buggy second hand for such a good price) we decided to go for it, take back a bit of control of the situation for ourselves! I actually started playing skyrim when I got back home, for all my giving out about it, had to take my mind off this morning or I'd go mad like!

Oh Kash you do make me giggle :) you can't have your belly button touched - I pushed mine in as a child & still mess with it more than I should :D

My partner is happy to look after my tidiness requirements :)

Oh no Tink - our consultant did say that the umbilical cord can cause confusion so fingers crossed you get your girl but another little boy & you have a 5 a side ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

Fingers crossed it will be 11 weeks not 6!

Tinkerbell I dont blame you for being confused!!

Cyning - how come they think it will be 6 weeks? I can imagine that the idea is both welcome & scary in equal measure :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

I think because my body is under so much pressure from babs: my thyroid is fluctuating wildly, I keep having bleeds and spotting and the constant vomiting doesn't help: it means I don't always keep my tablets down which makes it harder again to control. And because I went so overactive with my thyroid my heart rate etc went skyhigh. But then again that's why I wasn't allowed back to work: I keep my feet up like 23 hours a day practically.

I'm weaker because of it all too. I'm having blood tests tomorrow so they should see if I have thyroid antibodies: if I do then they'll have to put a plan in place for me and babs: I'll probably be induced at 37 weeks if I didn't go naturally by that stage and at least weekly doc visits. So hopefully they've stayed negitive.

I'm really hoping I don't go in 6 weeks: that's just what specialist and consultant think :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 776 ✭✭✭TwoMums2Be

Well it does sound like letting your baby arrive a little early would probably be best for you both :) and that's what's most important!
At least they are keeping a very close eye on it all & can make a plan for if you do have antibodies :)
Your little one has also been given the booster shot so she will be a little more developed as a result of that :)
I will keep my fingers crossed that your antibody test comes back negative! I know it's no comfort to you but what you have been & are going through really makes me appreciate my fairly smooth pregnancy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

I'm really hoping she's not 5 weeks early: I'd like her to avoid an incubator if at all possible. I just want her to be healthy. And to have a nice normal functioning thyroid too would be nice :)

Hell I'd like one of them myself though!

We went and visited friends of ours this evening: my hubbie's godchild. Haven't seen them since the christening in december (the one i insisted on going to and eneded up in hosp the day after!): he is so big compared to what he was. I was totally in shock: he sat up on my lap and was touching my face and chewing my fingers and smiling his gummy smile at me!! So so cute :) Although seriously the biggest 6 month old I have EVER seen: he's eating three times a day. Although she did say they gave him chocolate at easter i was a bit horrified  but ya i was just totally in awe of him today. Must be the baby growing inside of me!!

    Tinker fingers crossed for you.
I mentioned to my hubby that it is possible that Alice is a boy but he don't want to listen.

Cyning I hope everything will be fine.

re grooming etc I will ask my hubby to do it.
he already put nail polish on my toes (and some on nails too ;-)) so i think he will be ok.
my sister said in hospital in uk she was in midwifes helped with grooming when they expected stiches.

my mantra for tonight - only 4 days and weekend.

There's a Nelo in Limerick too actually, but I was in there the other week and they didn't have a great selection at all, very tiny, very expensive shop! Dublin one is probably better!

No but I'm very tempted! I'll probably do it end of June. I'm not big into ironing - I only iron work shirts and the like. Do you have to iron baby stuff for some reason?

Also can anyone suggest a good place to get cheaper cellular blankets and sheets and things like that? The cell blankets seem to be fierce expensive!

At least she probably has cop on re what to do, I don't think I'd let my OH near me with a razor etc. or nail polish for that matter. He's a bit too retrosexual for all that grooming :D (Plus he hates when I paint my nails as the fumes drive him mad, I have to do it when he's out of the house)

If they bring you in 37 weeks, she may not have to go in the incubator. I think they only put babies in that if they are under 37 wks, I could be wrong. It's a pretty damn good gestational age though so she should be in perfect health!

In other news... my back is way better the past two days, a bit of relief. I think the pregnancy yoga really helped, dying for the next class now. I'm much more chilled out as I'm training myself to breath deeper and steadier from learning it in the class.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

If I go in 6 weeks I'll only be 35 weeks though  I'm actually not worrying about it to be honest: they really are minding me very well!

Mink if you have a Guiney's near you they are without a doubt the cheapest. I got mine for €3.99 and they are the large ones. They don't have them at the moment but they have loads for €5.99 which is still cheaper than anywhere else I saw. They have the hooded baby towels for €3.99 with a fleece hoody too to wrap baby in when dry to warm them up.

And if you don't they have a website I just discovered :D

Just wondering cying how you found the cellular blankets in there?
I've seen them in Tesco Dunnes and to be honest they feel very hard, not soft at all.
Is this jsut the way cellular blankets are? Its really put me off buying them cos I can't imagine them being very comfortable for babies.
    Thanks
