Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
The Christmas markets will be in Galway from the weekend of the 25th of November.
Anyone interested in meeting up for:
    1. a photowalk around the markets
    2. a meet up for a drink and to meet other boards photography forum members?

I've no specific date in mind yet, possible night time (I'm think it'd be more atmospheric for photos)

Just reply if you'd be interested and add and thoughts on dates etc.

Here's 2 collages of mine from last year's market:

This actually interests me. Let me know the finer details with plenty of notice and I'd hope to make it. Obviously I'd need a B&B, coming from Cork and all that, but count me in! :D

Please count me in also! Like colblimp would need a bit of notice to organise the time off but definitely interested! :D

Had planned on going last year but didn't make it. Might be up for a trip this year along with MissusP&B.
From past experience the Clybaun Hotel is fairly reasonable and is only a 10 minute bus ride from Eyre Square.

hmmm...weekend of the 25th? That collides with the Boards photobook launch on the 26th...So no excursion to Galway for me.

Edit: I see it's on til the 18th of December. But checking my diary none of the weekends would suit me...

Would be up for this if it's on a weekend I'm at home

Ok, so there's a few interested anyway. I guess more will join in once there's a fixed date.
So anyone want to propose date(s)?

    I can't guarantee I'm available any weekend.
How would a school night suit people?

I'd be fine with a midweek meetup, but it might stop people from outside Galway coming?

I know...I'm just proposing to bring the idea on a bit.

We could always have more than one meet up?

Maybe an evening midweek for those living in/near Galway.

And then a bigger weekend meetup- meet in the daytime, have a photowalk around Galway City/markets, dinner/bite to eat and then the markets (again)when it's dark to get lovely bokeh, lights etc.

Count me in for this too. I was planning on doing this with the NUIG photo soc on maybe Sat 17th (day after exams for students). Not doing exams this year myself though so should be available for most evenings.

Ok, so there's 3 of us at least so it's game on.

Midweek Galway Market Photowalk: Tuesday, 6th Dec

I wont' be in until 7:30pm as I'm playing football until 7. If anyone wants to meet up earlier can someone just PM me a mobile number and I can call when I'm in.

I'll leave it up to ye to decide what time and where ye want to meet.

    Cheers,
    Pa.

I'd probably be able to make it along next Tuesday too - I've put it in the diary anyhow. I took a load of pictures in an actual German Weihnachtsmarkt last night so it might be interesting to see how the two sets compare.

Your username is only encouraging it!!

Forgot this was on this evening, hope I can get home in time to grab my camera gear, fairly busy in college at the moment...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,155 ✭✭✭PopeBuckfastXVI

OK folks, I'm still on for this, unless it's pouring!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,689 ✭✭✭joeKel73

Fairly miserable out there now, raining heavy.... anything to be said for a reschedule? :o

Unlikely to be able to make it myself this evening, have a load of lab corrections to get through here in college.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,154 ✭✭✭dinneenp

    Wont make it in- sick.
    Enjoy if ye go.
If rescheduled I'll try to make it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,732 ✭✭✭rain on

Gonna give it a miss - the rain is too wet for my camera's liking :/

Sounds like it's a no go! Let's try again when the weather picks up a bit, maybe next week?

    Weather hasn't improved much... :(

    met.ie tonights forcast for Connacht.
Very cold with wintry showers mainly in western parts with frost and icy patches expected. South-west winds decreasing moderate to fresh inland overnight but strong on the north-west coast.

Its promised rain on and off. Tomorrow looks slightly better. On the other hand are we ever going to get a perfect evening at this time of year. :) Might be wishful thinking

    Thoughts?
