    double glazing?
do they use pvc windows out there at all?
are the insulation properties of the windows reversed out there to keep the warm air out and the cool air in?

Mixture of double glazing and single glazing, not sure is PVC big out here,
thats the idea to keep warm out and cool in.
Im still learning TBH, i was doing it back home but in timber though, putting windows in this place is handy enough, screw them together and none of that glueing craic.

interesting, i often wondered if they are insulating the houses out there as good as what we are insulating our new builds now, as it would save on their air conditioning bills like it saves on our oil bills.

    No it wouldn't.
It would increase overheating and aircon loads in most situations as it keep heat in the buildings.

A better stragegy, one used a lot in australia is over shading windows to block summer sun.
