Token performance from villa but we took advantage of it well pity we didn't crank a few more in and help the GD out

Good result keeps the points ticking over

Whoa, that was good. 2-0 up and not a jitter. Should've bagged a bundle though; but I'll not complain given that performance.

What an easy win , we are on a different level to villa

Parkers work rate is scary . It's rubbing off on ade and all the lads .

When we didn't have the ball we worked really hard to win it back

    Top stuff

Another really good win. Another excellent first half display. Good to see our number 9 get a couple. We realy are playing well. Kaboul looks very assured , and straight down the spine of the team we look excellent.

    Tough away game now, COYS.

P.S. Did you hear harry, us spurs fans are knowledgeable :D

Wish the Man City game was tomorrow and not at the start like it was, feel we could take them.

Great run, once again it's great to be a Spurs fan.

We were actually lucky that the City and United games were early in the season, and that the Everton game was postponed. We were such a shambles back then that we would have lost to anyone, so it was better to lose a couple of our tougher games.

Fantastic performance tonight. I'm finding it hard to get used to this winning regularly malarkey :D

Missed the game as I said early due to being in work, but just watched some highlights there and talked to my dad about it. Great to get the 3 points and a good display is great too. 3rd with a game in hand is brilliant. Hopefully we can keep it up and keep playing well. Its also great to think we have Sandro on the bench (who was immense last season), Dawson Thudd both injured and to come back. Good to have that quality cover we haven't always had.

Thought Kaboul looked like a great player last night, granted Villa didnt offer much but he handled everything perfectly and looks very confident.

Two things about VDV, firstly, he drops way too deep for my liking! in the second half he was in our own half picking up the ball off King and BAE, o the other hand, there were a few times when he really held the ball up well, showed great physical strength and positioning to hold off Collins on his back and pass the ball off to a teammate. A new aspect to his game? i never noticed that side of him before but kinda looked like he is getting the hang of english football.

Parker, my god, even if we only had him for this season at 8 mill he is a bargain, what a player, immense, such a workrate from start to finish. Id love to see his fitness scores!

If im going to be critical, score more goals! really could have had 5 or 6 last night, and that could make a difference at the end of the season!

I read online somewhere that our midfield last night cost £40 mill? and liverpool paid 35 for Andy Carroll!

Think Parker is rubbing off on Modric, he threw himself into a few tackles last night and seems well able to handle himself now.

hudd is a fairly good player with a great passing and shooting range but i really dont think he would make this team. the team now work their ass off for 90 mins and im afraid tom doesnt fit that mould for me

No player is going to get a look in unless there’s an injury or two picked up which will no doubt happen over the season, the current 1st team squad is awe inspiring and opposing teams must sh*t themselves with the attacking flair we have on offer.

Great to see Gallas returning into the fold.

Friedel may have had very little to do last night, but any balls zipped in low or high he held onto them, something chocolate wrists could never do.

Redknapp should be sorted out with a new deal immediately, an offer that’s too good to pass up before England’s hierarchy come a knocking. The man is top notch, knows the game inside out and the players love and respect him.

Seriously proud of the team at the moment.

Did anyone else notice how much running and tracking back Adebayor did? At one stage in the 2nd half he ran all the way back from near Villa's box, where I think he'd lost the ball, and made 3 tackles on 3 different players, resulting in a Villa throw.

He may not be making the most of his scoring opportunities as he should have had at least a hat-trick last night, but his workrate around the pitch is amazing, and not something I would have associated with him. As mickman mentioned, maybe it's Parkers influence.

    Great result though.

Ya I noticed that it was fantastic to see I thought Lennon was brilliant last night he's been back to his best since returning from injury great to see!

Harsh. Granted he wouldn't get in the team on current form, but he'd be a very useful squad player. I certainly wouldn't think about selling em.

Jesus we were all over them - 69% possession in the first half! VDV was absolutely electric imo. Fantastic assured performance from Kaboul too.

With the way the 1st eleven are playing i think it's going to be really hard to keep the fringe players motivated as they are unlikely to get any major gametime but in 'arry we trust :D

Great win last night, didnt see the game as i was at work, thank God for sky plus, shall watch it tonight, cant wait!

Great win last night. Everyone played well, and was delighted with Ade. Really worked his socks off, even if he should have scored at least 1 more. As others have said, Kaboul was very good as well. I've not been his biggest fan before, but he stepped up yesterday. No surprise Parker was immense really.

Not sure i'm liking this 'We can win the league talk' though. I know we technically can, and it would be absolutely amazing to be up there, but let's keep that on hold till after Christmas.

I'd have to agree with that, no point in blowing our own trumpets. When Liverpool win a match or two in a row their fans start with that crap and to be honest it's just cringeworthy.

Last 5 games of the year would be time enough for that chat. Let's just enjoy our current winning form for now :D

That's the managers job, to manage. Fergie has done ok over the years with this same problem.

Really impressive last night. The way in which we dominated from the first whistle is something that in recent years we just haven't seen at WHL on a consistent basis. I know other teams will put up more of a fight than Villa did last night but we have quality all over the pitch to cope with any team.

    Exciting times for Spurs.

Of course it helps when you are guaranteed to win 1-2 medals year in year out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,661 ✭✭✭mickman

fergie has a habit of going to fringe players like park and saying " you will be playing on sunday two weeks for example and i need 100% from you" . that gives the player something to aim for and bust a gut then during the game

not sure if harry would do this kind of thing , maybe he would

great to see the big hug between luca and harry at the end of the game - like father and son :-)

You questioned how we will keep players happy, I said it's the managers job...anyway..

Also, nothing is guaranteed in football.

I think not selling Modric could define us as a club. I think everyone but Levy thought he was just peacocking for a bigger sale. It wouldn't surprise me that not selling him is a factor in VDV major increase in form. You see the club sticking to guns keeping big players it would give anyone a boost.

Anyway, easiest 3 points I have seen since Liverpool. Villa made us look like Barcalona but you can only beat what is put infront of you. Also, the next 6/7 games are all winnable in my opinion. I'm starting to think that aging Chelsea could be past it.

I know he wouldn't get into the starting XI at the moment, but my point is it's great to have good and experienced cover like him, Gallas, Dawson and Sandro etc. Better than the cover we used to have.

The west brom game is massive for us now. 3 points is a must

I'd agree with this. I can't praise Levy enough for this, as it seemed everyone, including Harry, was convinced that Modric was gone. But he played hardball, and it's payed off massively. Modric really seems to be enjoying it again, as with many of the other players.

I also can't wait for the Chelsea game. Considering how high their defensive line is, we'll hopefully cut them to shreds with Bale and Lennon.

Result and a lacklustre Villa team aside, two things made me particularly happy about yesterdays game.

    1. Solid second half. @ 2-0 we were all expecting Spurs to rattle a little and Bent had a decent header at the start. Following that header Spurs upped the gears and the only negative was that we didn't bag a few more...

    2. The new Scotty Parker chant, "Super.. Super Scott, Super.. Super Scott, Super.. Super Scott, Super Scotty Parker!! The boy was immense. Rumours Chuck Norris was in the Spurs shop after the game buying Scott Parker Pyjamas:D
