Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    It's actually "Cool story Bro".

Anyone describing a room as a "space". Common with interior designers. Usually well bred Gels having a career in between daddy's wallet and hubbies. Fcuk off you pretentious so and so.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Liberal, when used as an adjective. In AH, anyway.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Non-National There are other nationalities besides Irish

Irish Traveller sometimes used by the UK media in relation to individuals who may not even have been born in Ireland /ever lived at more than one address/been outside the country they were born in.

The two communities (in relation to Northern Ireland)

Members of an ethnic group (When used by people who dont realise that they too are members of an ethnic group)

Political Correctness a figment of the imagination of those afflicted with an enormous persecution complex.

Appreciated :) but you'd be of the kind of personality that likes to be straight shooter, others need shit sugar-coating so they don't get offended (not me personally). That's when the 'to be honest' bit slides in. This would get used by me depending on who I'm talking to.

I understand what you're saying though.

We should never ban "done to death", because it comes in handy.

It's the most patronising quote of all because you can be pretty sure it is to offend but in the sneakiest way possible ...not that I'm easy offended mind you :)

So how come one never hears the expression used outside Ireland ?

Is there some rule peculiar to hiberno-english that a phrase cannot mean what it actually says ?

It does add an extra coating of verbose sugar to sneaky put-downs that slip under the ban radar though.

Because if they said "these recessionary times" it sounds a bit like missionary and remind you that no matter how bad things are people are still having sex and that's still free
