Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What 12-13" Laptop for a Power User

    Hey all,

At the moment I have a Latitude D420 netbook and a HP Probook 4525s that I'm considering selling and then "combining" the replacement - ie: a 12-13" netbook/laptop with 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro and a decent video card/resolution with HDMI support.. the best of both in other words. I don't need a bigger screen than that as I also have a desktop and could always connect a monitor if needed.
The portability of the D420 is ideal - if it had HDMI out it'd be almost perfect.

I work in IT and am on the laptop a lot at home too, so it must also have a decent keyboard/touchpad. I find the HP lacking on this as the mouse buttons aren't distinctive and took a bit of getting used to

    Bonuses but not essential:

    - DVD burner
    - Docking station
    - Webcam

Any thoughts on a solution? Preferably (significantly) under a grand :)

    Cheers!

    A well-specced Dell Vostro 3350 or a Lenovo Thinkpad E320?

Both can be had with an i5 or i7 (Vostro only), 8GB and dedicated graphics for less than €1000. Personally i'd take the Vostro 3350 as it seems to be the better laptop. The only thing that the E320 has over the Vostro is a 6630M Graphics card over the Vostro's 6490M.
