A little black and whtie kitten has been in my house for three days. He has a green collar with silver spots on.

He doesn't seem to know where his home is, every time I put him out he either sits on my porch until I let him back in or sits across at my neighbours house (in all kinds of weather).

I am reluctant to let him leave the house as he just sits on either porch for hours in all kinds of weather, so I'm really hoping to find his owner.

I have asked the neighbours on my street and no one seems to know who he belongs to.

If he belongs to any of you or you know who he may belong to please contact me via PM

Can you see whether he has been neutered? If so, it was probably done by a local vet. So give them a shout - 059 863 1498. Local one in Athy is VetCare: http://www.vetcare.ie/athy.htm

He could also be chipped, although it's less common for cats than dogs.

Also, as he has a collar on, it's obviously not a stray, so any owner will be very grateful for you looking after him!

He is not neutered and definately too young to be. I would say he's about 4-5 months old.

I will contact the vets tomorrow and hopefully they can give me some information.

They should know of other vets in your area, so maybe send them on the photo of the kitten and ask them to contact other vets.

It might be worth sticking a couple of posters on the Bleach Road entrance into the estate, as if he's that young, he's not going to have been able to wander too far, so it stands to reason that whomever owns him will spot the poster.

Any vet can check for a microchip. If there's no microchip, then either take it to the DSPCA shelter in rathfarnham (they're very good and will find a home for it very quickly), or of course, consider keeping it :-)
