I just watched an episode of 'How I met your mother' where Ted was on blind date with the same girl twice - 2002 & 2009 and it got me thinking - Do people still go on blind dates?

Wikipedia definition: A "blind date" is a date between two people who have not previously met

If he met her in 2002 and a blind date is between people that have never met, then by definition in 2009 it was just a date.

And I don't think so no.

Do both have to be blind to make it blind dates?

Blind dates just sound uncomfortable. I doubt I'd have much to say to some random person that someone else thought I'd get along with even though we've never met.

Ah they only realised when half way through the second date.
It's a tv series you know...

Does going on a date that you arranged while drunk count? I've definitely had dates with women I could have sworn I'd never seen before.

    Only when you're blind drunk.

I've never been a willing participant in one but I have had a few sprung on me by (presumably) well intentioned but misguided (usually female) friends.

I know I was just being awkward as usual.

Them not remembering they met does not change the fact they did! :D

Arent dates arranged through dating sites/personal columns/the internet generally not all blind dates

Thats if one even uses that awful expression ("dates") anyway.

I've been on a couple of dates and they've been awkward enough, I can't even imagine how awkward a blind date would be. Dates just seem very formal, they make me feel uncomfortable.

You'd wanna be off your Jarvis tbh.

Someones idea of 'perfect for you' just basically means they know two people that are single and are the kind of annoying bastards that assume that everyone needs to be in a relationship. Before you know it you're sitting across some nut job licking their elbows.

    You're alright, tah.
