    Hi,

I moved to Kilkenny last month and I'm looking a few recommendations on local services.

Can anyone recommend a good local
    1. barber
    2. butcher
    3. restaurant that is not full of stags/hens on the weekend
    4. take-away (just-eat has only a few listed, there must be more!)

    Life's essentials:)

    Thanks!

    I use the follwoing
    1. Longs of John's St. (I've been going there for years and just too lazy to change)
    2. Mullins on Friary Street (because I know him)
    3. Don't really dine out but I always like the restaurant in the Rivercourt (I used to work there)
    4. Joes on Dean St, never order chips in there, he'll generally give you enough with your burger or whatever. I generally try and stay away from there though.

Nore bar does do mean pints of Guinness and ale. Others I rate highly in that category are Dohertys of Friary St. and Reidys (Ó'Riada) of Parliament St. which I think are the only pubs worth going to purely for the pint.

    1. Either Marble City Barbers on John St. or the one directly opposite the back entrance to Superquinn/Marble Cross. (Not sure of the name). I made the mistake of going into Long's once, some dodgy looking bloke ran his shaver over my head for about 20 seconds and charged me 15 quid for the privilege.

    2. O'Briens in Loughboy has a great selection and good prices.

    3. Don't eat out often enough to recommend.

    4. Larkins or Mario's. Fresh fish and chips in Mario's is nice. ;)
