i know a load of lines/punch lines but at the top of my head its hard to think of a full verse, but i love the 2nd verse on keep ya head up by 2pac especially the bolded part!

i just copied and pasted it, love this song. You will get some very inspirational verses from pac more so than any other rapper really.
Aiyyo, I remember Marvin Gaye, used to sing ta me
He had me feelin like black was tha thing to be
And suddenly tha ghetto didn't seem so tough
And though we had it rough, we always had enough
I huffed and puffed about my curfew and broke the rules
Ran with the local crew, and had a smoke or two
And I realize momma really paid the price
She nearly gave her life, to raise me right
And all I had ta give her was my pipe dream
Of how I'd rock the mic, and make it to tha bright screen
I'm tryin to make a dollar out of fifteen cents
It's hard to be legit and still pay tha rent
And in the end it seems I'm headin for tha pen
I try and find my friends, but they're blowin in the wind
Last night my buddy lost his whole family
It's gonna take the man in me to conquer this insanity
It seems tha rain'll never let up
I try to keep my head up, and still keep from gettin wet up
You know it's funny when it rains it pours
They got money for wars, but can't feed the poor
Say there ain't no hope for the youth and the truth is
it ain't no hope for tha future

And then they wonder why we crazy
I blame my mother, for turning my brother into a crack baby
We ain't meant to survive, cause it's a setup
And even though you're fed up
Huh, ya got to keep your head up

Have to agree with the Busta Verse off Scenario. There is also Hoods verse from the remix of Scenario.

Inspecktah Deck on OBFCL .... poisonous paragraphs to rip the microphone apart....

    Cappadonna on Winter Warz

Eminem on Rengade & Five Star Generals

Sage on Best of Times and Makshift Patriot

    Inspectah Deck on Triumph

Bumpy Knuckles on The Malitia (Gangstarr Moment of Truth)

This could go on for a while :D

It's a slight bit more than a verse but Slick Rick's "La Di Da Di" has got to be up there. When you see the calibre of guys that covered this song you know it's a bit special; Biggie, Tupac, Snoop, Ice Cube, The Roots, Ras Kass, De La Soul, NWA and so on.

Oh yea and it's an unreal tune as well. Story telling at it's best and most cutting.
Okay party people in the house...
This is something you never witnessed before...
Yes, it's the incredible Doug E. Fresh...
With his partner, the grand wizard MC, Ricky D
D, and that's me in the place to be.
We goin' to do it for '85, kick it live, allright?
Cuz you know, you're all sick of all these crap rappers
biting their rhymes because of they're back steppers.
But when it comes to me and my man Doug Fresh here,
there is no competition 'cause we are the best, yeah.
But as impress, which we approve
and yeah, we realize that we are on the move,
so listen closely so y'all don't miss
as we go a little something like this, HIT IT!

    La-di-da-di...
    La-di-da-di...
    La-di, da-di!
    Yo peep this

    La-di-da-di, we like to party
We don't cause trouble, we don't bother nobody
We're, just some men that's on the mic
And when we rock upon the mic we rock the mic RIGHT
For all of y'all, keep y'all in health
Just to see you smile and enjoy yourself
Cause it's cool when you cause a cozy conditioning
Which we create, cause that's our mission
So listen close, to what we say
Because this type of **** happens everyday
I woke up around ten o'clock in the morning
I gave myself a stretch up, a morning yawn and
Went to the bathroom to wash up
Put some soap on my face and my hand upon a cup, said
    Mirror mirror on the wall
Who is the top choice of them all
there was a rumble tumble, five minutes it lasted
the mirror said, "You are you conceited bastard!"
Well that true, that why we never had no beef
THen I washed off the soap and brushed the gold teeth
Used oil of olay cause my skin gets pail
and then I grabbed the file for my finger nails
I'm true to the style on my behalf
I put the bubbles in the tub so I could take a bubble bath
Clean, dry, was my, body and hair
I threw on my brand new Gucci underwear
For all the girls I might take home
I got the Johnson's Baby Powder and the Polo Cologne
Fresh dress, like a million bucks,
put on the Bally shoes and the fly green socks.
Stepped out the house stopped short, oh no
Went back in I forgot my Kangol
Then I dilly, DALLY, I ran through the ALLEY
I bumped into this homegirl named SALLY from the VALLEY
This was a girl playing hard to get
So I said "What's wrong?" cause she looked upset
She said uh, "It's all because of you
    I'm feeling sad and blue
    You went away
and now my life is filled with rainy days
    I love you so
    How much you'll never know
Cause you took your love away from me"
Now what was I to do
She was crying over me and she was feeling blue
I said, "Don't cry, dry, your eyes
Here comes your mother with those two little guys"
Her mean mother steps and says to me "Hi!"
Hit Sally in the face and deckedvi her in the eye
punched her in the belly, and stepped on her feet
Slammed the child on the hard concrete
The bitch was strong, the kids was gone
Something was wrong I said what was going on?
I tried to break it up I said, stop it, leave her
She said, "If I can't have you she can't either"
She grabbed me closely by my socks
So I broke the hell out like I had the chicken pox
But uh, she gave chase, she caught up quick
She put a finger in the face of MC Rick, SHE said
"Why don't you give me A PLAN?
SO we can go cruising in my old jag
And if you give me that OK
I'll give you all my love today
Ricky Ricky Ricky, can't you see
Somehow your words just hypnotize me
And I just love your jazzy ways
So MC Rick my love is here to stay"
And on and on and on she kept on
The bitch been around before my mother's born
I said, "Cheer up!" I gave her a kiss
I said, "You can't have me I'm too young for you miss"
She said, "No you're not," then she starts crying
I says, "I'm nineteen", she says, "Stop lying!"
I said, "I am -- go ask my mother
And with your wrinkled pussy, I can't be your lover!"
To the heart tick tock you don't stop
To the heart tick tock you don't quit, hit it!

...don't ever forget, Doug E. Fresh, and MC Ricky D...

Another inspectah deck verse, from its yourz:
It's only natural, actual facts are thrown at you
The impact'll blow trees back and crack statues
    Million dollar rap crews fold,
    check the sick **** explicit,
I crystalize the rhyme so you can sniff it
We live this, fitted hats low conceal the Crooked I
No surprise, verbal stick up -- put em high
Rebel I, outlaw, split second on the draw
Blow the door off this ****, like bricks of C-4

Most memorable verse i'v ever heard is out of regulators (:
:They got guns to my head
    I think I'm going down
I can't believe this happenin in my own town
If I had wings I could fly
    Let me contemplate
I glanced in the cut and I see my homey Nate

R.A. on uncommon valor is pretty much my favourite verse. True story of his fathers experience in vietnam too. Theres a film coming out about him. Qaulity multis in some parts

    Pun smashes this

    Pun smashes this

Uncommon Valor is brilliant, not sure if I rate it as high as C*nt Renassaince. His verse of a recent song with Hell Razah is also exceptional.

That Pun verse amazes me still when I hear it.

Gotta be Inspektah Deck's verse on Triumph. That first line is just killer.

There are so many just from Nas' Illmatic that I could choose, but I'm gonna go with the first verse on Halftime - 'you couldn't catch me in the streets without a ton of reefer, that's like Malcolm X catchin' the jungle fever'. That is savage.

I think everyone really brought it here, but I really like Lauryn's verse.

Eminem - As the World Turns; 2nd verse, the storytelling, rhyme scheme, humour; a masterpiece

Outkast - Da Art of Storytelling; Andre's verse,
Talkin bout what we gonna be when we grow up
I said what you wanna be, she said, "Alive"

Ghostface Killah - One; 2nd verse, just an absolutely relentless verse, Ghost's breath control is flawless

Organized Konfusion - Bring it On; Pharoahe's verse, Pharoahe's flow and delivery on this is....jawdropping, seriously, this still amazes me everytime I hear it

Ha, I better leave it that smile.gif

I have loads of verses that stick out in my mind.
    - Eminem last verse in Im Back from Marshall Mathers LP talking about puffy & j lo.
    - Jay Z verse in Public Service Announcement from black Album
    - Jay Z verse 22 Twos from Reasonable doubt.
    - Scarface verse from This cant be life
    - Lupe 2nd verse in The Coolest
    - kanye 3rd verse from Gorgeous
    - 2pac only god can judge me 2nd verse

all time favourite is biggie's last verse in sky's the limit though. just always loved this verse.

    After realizin, to master enterprisin
I ain't have ta be in school by ten, I was in
Began to encounter, wit my counter-parts
I holla burn the block apart, break it down into sections
    Drugs by the selection
Some use pipes, others use in-jec-tions
Syringe sold seperately, Frank the deputy
Quick to grab my Smith-n-Wessun, like my dick was missin
To protect my position, my corner, my layer
While we out here, say the hustlas prayer
If the game shakes me or breaks me
I hope it makes me a better man
    Take a better stand
Put money in my moms hand
Get my daughter this college plan, so she don't need no man
    Stay far from timid
Only make moves when ya heart's in it
And live the phrase Sky's The Limit
Mother****er... see you chumps on top

There's a few André 3000 verses that pop into my head: International Player's Anthem, Millionaire, Da Art of Storytellin' 1, Hollywood Divorce, Royal Flush. He's just kills so many tracks.

Other verses that always stands out in my mind are Sticky Fingaz' one on Remember Me by Eminem or Dr. Dre's verse on Hello by Ice Cube.

    Yet another one.
    Lauryn Hills verse.
It just proves that she is the best female rapper that ever lived.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭conor.hogan.2

"then blow it up, like edi amin, yaknahmean" - that line is what makes this verse stick out from the rest of his verses.
Really have to agree with the pun verses mentioned along with busta on scenario.

Mos Def on Definition is right up there for me too

Yo, from the first to the last of it, delivery is passionate
The whole and not the half of it, vocab and not the math of it
Projectile that them blasted with, accurate assassin ****
Me and Kweli close like, Bethlehem and Nazareth

We're all born into this river without knowing how to swim
And eventually we learn how to keep this water under our chins
Some times this river is so cold to be in
Freezing my soul, solidifying my skin
Regardless of how far I see, I never see my travels end
Were carried by the current, being driven by the wind
The scenery we pass, we'll never see again
So we store it up as memories and don't let go of them
We're under a spell thinking the river should go straight
We set goals and desires to control our own fate
But all the pain we experience is a result of our expectations
Because it's the rivers nature to twist and turn
    The **** can burn
    And I know it
    I have the same conflict
But I try to sit and flow with this rivers natural process
And sometimes when I watch myself float downstream
I see the beauty of it all, and it feels like a dream
And at that time I appreciate the rivers course
Some call it God, reality, momentum, force
I stare up at the naked moon, and she stares down at me
Outside thoughts boundaries I'm all I look outward to see
The universe is not something separate from yourself
I know you feel alone, but that's why I'm here to help
I know you feel alone, but just look up at the stars
And everything that is out there is what you really are

Best song on the album IMO

    Second Verse

Verse two, comin with that Olde E brew
Meth-tical, puttin niggaz back in I.C.U.
I'm lifted troop, you can bring yours wack ass crew
I got connections, I'll get that ass stuck like glue, huh
No question, I be comin down and ****
Yo I gets rugged as a mother****in carpet get
And niggaz love it, not in the physical form but in the mental
I spark and they cells get warm
    I'm not a gentle, man, I'm a Method, Man!
Baby accept it, utmost respect it
(Assume the position) Stop look and listen
I spit on your grave then I grab my Charles Dickens

    Welcome to my center
Honies feel it deep in they placenta
Cold as the pole in the winter
Far from the inventor, but I got this rap **** sewed
    And when my Mac unloads
    I'm guaranteed another video
Ready to die, why I act that way?
    Pop Duke left Mom Duke
The ****** took the back way
So instead of makin hoes suck my dick up
    I used to do stick-up
Cause hoes is irritatin like the hic-CUPS
Excuse me, flows just grow through me
    Like trees to branches
    Cliffs to avalanches
    It's the praying mantis
Deep like the mind of Farrakhan
    A mother****in rap phenomenon, plus

(I got more glocks and techs than you)
I make it hot (Nigga won't even stand next to you)
Nigga touch me you better bust me
    tree times in the head
Or mother****er's dead, ya thought so

Has Ghostface on Impossible been mentioned yet?

Call an ambulance, Jamie been shot, word to Kemit
Don't go Son, nigga you my mother****in heart
Stay still Son, don't move, just think about Keeba
She'll be three in January, your young God needs you
The ambulance is taking too long
Everybody get the **** back, excuse me bitch, gimme your jack
One, seven one eight, nine one one, low battery, damn
Blood comin out his mouth, he bleedin badly
Nahhh Jamie, don't start that ****
Keep your head up, if you escape hell we gettin ****ed up
When we was eight, we went to Bat Day to see the Yanks
In Sixty-Nine, his father and mines, they robbed banks
He pointed to the charm on his neck
With his last bit of energy left, told me rock it with respect
I opened it, seen the God holdin his kids
Photogenic, tears just burst out my wig
Plus he dropped one, oh ****, here come his Old Earth
With no shoes on, screamin holdin her breasts with a gown on
She fell and then lightly touched his jaw, kissed him
Rubbed his hair, turned around the ambulance was there
Plus the blue coats, Officer Lough, took it as a joke
Weeks ago he strip-searched the God and gave him back his coke
Bitches yellin, Beenie Man swung on Helen
In the back of a cop car, dirty tarts are tellin
But suddenly a chill came through it was weird
Felt like my man, was cast out my heaven now we share
Laid on the stretcher, blood on his Wally's like ketchup
Deep like the full assassination with a sketch of it
It can't be, from Yohoo to Lee's
Second grade humped the teachers, about to leave
Finally this closed chapter, comes to an end
He was announced, pronounced dead, y'all, at twelve ten

OH and Biggie's verse on Notorious Thugs.

I have loads but this one sticks out:
When I die, **** it I wanna go to hell
Cause I'm a piece of ****, it ain't hard to ****in' tell
It don't make sense, goin' to heaven wit the goodie-goodies
Dressed in white, I like black Tims and black hoodies
God will probably have me on some real strict ****
No sleepin' all day, no gettin my dick licked
Hangin' with the goodie-goodies loungin' in paradise
**** that ****, I wanna tote guns and shoot dice
All my life I been considered as the worst
Lyin' to my mother, even stealin' out her purse
Crime after crime, from drugs to extortion
I know my mother wished she got a ****in' abortion
She don't even love me like she did when I was younger
Suckin' on her chest just to stop my ****in' hunger
I wonder if I died, would tears come to her eyes?
Forgive me for my disrespect, forgive me for my lies
My babies' mothers 8 months, her little sister's 2
Who's to blame for both of them (naw nigga, not you)
I swear to God I want to just slit my wrists and end this bull****
Throw the Magnum to my head, threaten to pull ****
And squeeze, until the bed's, completely red
I'm glad I'm dead, a worthless ****in' buddah head
The stress is buildin' up, I can't,
I can't believe suicide's on my ****in' mind
I want to leave, I swear to God I feel like death is ****in' callin' me
But naw you wouldn't understand (nigga, talk to me please)
You see its kinda like the crack did to Pookie, in New Jack
Except when I cross over, there ain't no comin' back
Should I die on the train track, like Remo in Beatstreet
People at the funeral frontin' like they miss me
My baby momma kissed me but she glad I'm gone
She knew me and her sista had somethin' goin' on
    I reach my peak, I can't speak,
call my nigga Chic, tell him that my will is weak.
I'm sick of niggas lyin', I'm sick of bitches hawkin',
matter of fact, I'm sick of talkin'.

Speaking of Eminem, I think this is my favourite verse by him. Not for being lyrically or flow wise his best, but damn, the passion in this verse is amazing. I would love to see some footage of this being recorded.

For you, I wanna write the sickest rhyme of my life
So sick it’ll blow up the mic, It’ll put the dyna in mite
Yeah it’ll make the dopest MC wanna jump off a bridge and sh*t hisself
Tap dancin’ all over the beat, it’ll jump off the page and spit itself
Yeah it’s the best thing I could do right now Doodi for you is to rap
So I'm gonna f*ck til I die, yeah Imma do it to death
And instead of mourning your death, I’d rather celebrate your life
Elevate to new height, step on the gas and accelerate, Imma need two mics
Cuz the way that I’m feelin’ tonight, everything I can just do right
There’s nothing that I can do wrong, I’m too strong and I’m just too hyped
Just finished the rhyming and bust it and excuse the corny metaphor
They’ll never catch up to all this energy that I’ve mustered
So God just help me out while I fight through this grievin’ process
Tryna process this loss is makin’ me nauseous
But this depression ain’t takin me hostage
I’ve been patiently watchin’ this game, pacin’ these hallways
You had faith in me always
Proof you knew I’d come out of this slump, rise from these ashes
Come right back on they asses, and go Mike Tyson on these bastards
And Imma show ‘em, blow ‘em out the water slaughter ‘em homes
I’ma own so many belts, the only place they can hit me is below em
Homie I know I’m, never gonna be the same without you
I never woulda came in this game, I’m going insane without you
Matter of fact it was just the other night, had another dream about you
You told me to get up, I got up, I spread my wings and I flew
You gave me a reason to fight, I was on my way to see you
You told me nah Doodi you’re not layin’ on that table I knew
I was gonna make it, soon as you said think of Hailie, I knew
There wasn’t no way that I was gonna ever leave them babies, and Proof
not many are lucky enough to have a guardian angel like you
Lord I’m so thankful, please don’t think I don’t feel grateful, I do
Just grant me the strength that I need, for one more day to get through
So homie this is your song, I dedicate this to you
    I love you Doodi

I forgot to post this. It's Fiddy's verse on "Hate It or Love It". It's probably the best verse I've heard from all his songs. It also probably sums up all of his younger life in about 30 seconds or so which is no mean feat.

Wish we could some more verses like this from Game and Fifty, but that wish fades with every release.
    Coming up I was confused
    My mama kissing a girl
    Confusion occurs
Coming up in a cold world
    Daddy aint around
    Probably out committing felonies
My favorite rapper used to sing
    Check, check out my melody
I wanna live good so **** I sell dope
    For a four-finger rings
    One of them gold ropes
Nana told me if I passed I get a sheep skin coat
If I could move a few packs
    I get the hat
    Now that'll be dope
Tossed and turn in my sleep that night
    Woke up the next morning
    Niggaz done stole my bike
    Different day, same ****
Ain't nothing good in the hood
I run away from this bitch
And never come back if I could
