Anyone know where to get reasonably priced hard drives?

Floods in Thailand knocked out all main HD manufacturing operations for at least 8 months. There are still supplies in retail stores, but computer manufacturers are already running out.

The price of disks and SSDs will rise sharply in 2012 after the christmas rush cleans out stocks.

I have a feeling we'll see a lot more of these threads.

if you want it fast use http://www.shop4memory.com/ they will not have the cheapest going (not far off mind ya) but I've bought 3 different things off them and two arrived in 2 days one was 3 days.. otherwise use amazon.co.uk

I've seen some 2TB HDDs in Maplins for about a hundred and twenty euros and I think a 1TB for about eighty euro. They're external but if you want, get a screw driver, pry the case open and you have a hand-dandy SATA HDD.

There's a similar drive to the WD passport being sold in Dunnes Stores at the minute. The drive is German made and it's called Platimum MyDrive. Not sure what it's like but prices are-
320GB €50
500GB €60

Someone here might know more about it?

We have too many stickies as is. I need to clean them up. People can just bump this thread as necessary and / or I'll merge in any new ones.
