Fishing in the Duck near Ballymacoda

There is a lake beside the sea near Ballymacoda in east Cork.Does anybody know if it is freshwater or not.Looking at the map it appears to be cut of from the sea but there could be a channel linking it with the sea.Do you need a licence to fish there and can you use a boat on it?
