They would in that they'd follow the concept of larger surface area, but there's no such thing as a 5.7mm hollow point. Such a specialist round is reserved for calibres in which it would be useful, like 9mm, .40, .45 and .357. In other words, bigger, slower rounds with a lot more impact to begin with.
A .45ACP will leave an exit wound the size of your fist. A .45 hollow point will leave it the size of a football. They both do the job though. It's a reanimated human corpse you're trying to drop, not a zombie elephant.

HP's sound fun, but so do incendiary tips and those funky hollow cored slugs that are half filled with mercury, but it's using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

there was hollow-point 5.7mm there discontinued now though

Yeah I edited wikipedia before and kinda got banned from it.
Back on topic for that stopping power you'd want 45s but pistols dont really hold much so a kriss would probably your best option or do any of the c model glocks fire 40s or 45s?

Eh... Why a Kriss? I'm just curious as to why you'd want to rely on the most complicated PDW ever created in the typical zombie scenario...

  • Registered Users Posts: 863 ✭✭✭MonkeyGuy

I actually have a UMP and my pistol is an m1911 so that'd work for the whole keeping the same ammo idea. UMP's in bits though, I might rebuild it with zombie hunting in mind...

Don't wadcutters usually have a lower powder charge though? Since they're primarily target shooting rounds?

It's in .45, that's the only reason I mentioned it previously.

So is the UMP, which has a larger mag capacity, proven reliability and considerably easier maintenance. Actually, I'd rather have a Thompson than a Kriss as a. 45 option.

  • Registered Users Posts: 863 ✭✭✭MonkeyGuy

I was giving in to Mac of Future Weapon's temptations I guess, "The 45 HAS BEEN TAAAMED!!" Damn him and his shiny, shiny head. :p

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

That guy is so over blown he's almost a parody of himself...

  • Registered Users Posts: 863 ✭✭✭MonkeyGuy

It probably wouldn't be half as interesting a show if it wasn't for him though, and all the bad guys and terrorists he does be talking about.

So yeah, .45 cal is agreed upon?

and it's German :) I personally would go for a Mp5 and an m9. and if i did have a chance to use an m4 or similar 5.56 rifle i would probably take it over and mp5. I get that at close range the 5.56 can have it's problems with friendlies etc, but really, in a zombie apocalypse stay out of narrow corridors, everyone must know that from the movies at this stage

also I think someone said this earlier on but itsn't the Kriss amazingly complicated? yes the recoil is near nothing due to it's mechanism but I'd rather try fix a UMP than a Kriss

Mac 11 for spray & pray & a couple of spare mags plus a box or 2 of extra rounds, left leg holster.
Sawn-off shotgun for up close & personal, chest holstered.
Cut down shotgun for medium range, holstered on my back.
    Hunters vest.
Bandolier of shotgun shells & spare shells stuffed in pockets.
    Ball of string for tripwires.
    30 metres of Paracord.
Bag of marbles (Can of oil) to slow the zed's down at corridors/stairs etc.
Couple of frag grenades in case of parking difficulties. :D
Helmet, knee & elbow pads, shin guards, ****kicker boots, forearm guards & a decent pair of gloves.
Ball & chain & a hunting hand axe.

That should just about cover it. :)

I was discussing this with a friend today & he mentioned he'd carry a golf umbrella too.
    a) Use it as an emergency shield (@ windows, doors, stairs, lift doors etc).
    b) To conceal a sword (mind, this is illegal in Ireland, but will be fine when zeds start roaming the earth)
    c) Keeping the rain off.
    d) As a walking stick if you get injured.

The concept of travelling light is clearly not in good company here.

Sharks also don't attack in hordes and not care when you forceably remove one of their limbs. Let's see you run 500 yards in that...

You're clearly not adverse to carrying a bit of weight:pac:

Aslong as you outrun him that's all that matters. :D

Chainmail and out-running don't tend to go well together...

Maybe just wrap yourself in tinfoil to give the illusion of chainmail.

Zombies are not known for their cognitive analysis skills in determining whether or not something will be 'good chewing', so wrapping yourself in Tinfoil will just result in the hypothetical horde eating you in a more preserved state :D

Sure just carry a sign around that says, "I don't taste good" and they'll definitely leave you alone?

We've been over this - you just need a movie camera. They ignore the cameramen.
