Can anyone recommend a sex ed book? My son is 9 and showing signs of puberty. I think it's time for ''the talk'' but I'd really like a book to help guide me through it. He's autistic, so a clear and concise book would probably be best....any ideas?

The Crisis Pregnancy Agency has produced a number of resources to assist parents to provide relationship and sex education to their children. These resources have been designed based on the needs of parents to provide appropriate information based on the life stage of their children.

Resource for parents of 10-14 year olds - ‘Busy Bodies’

Resource for parents of 11-15 year olds - ‘You can talk to me’

Resource for parents of 15-17 year olds - ‘Parents, Make the time to talk’

Busy Bodies Adolescent Development Programme provides information on the physical and emotional changes that children may experience during puberty, to reassure them that puberty is a normal part of growing up. Busy Bodies is a useful resource to help support both teachers and parents in providing information on puberty to children aged between 10 and 14.

Busy Bodies was developed to support the teaching of the 5th and 6th class component of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) within the context of Social Personal and Health Education. Itwas produced by the Health Service Executive South working in partnership with the RSE Support Service, the National Parents Council (Primary) and the HSE Crisis Pregnancy Programme.

'Whats happening to me' is available in any good book shop.

    Hi OP,

When I was younger my mother gave me this book, which I found very useful and they explained everything clearly.

She also gave me 'girl talk' (I'm female), which is the same as 'boy talk' but about females obviously lol.

I'd second the recommendation for the Busy Bodies booklet from the HSE.
