I'm throwing this Laptop up in 3 Threads here with no response as of yet.

It's €455 delivered, it has the newer type i3 Processor (so it'll be decent performer for a good few years to come) 4GB RAM (Loads, It'll make the Lappie nice and snappy, no waiting for stuff to open or switching to something else), only integrated graphics but it'll do fine for High Def Video, it reads all the common Memory Cards and has a HDMI port.

It may be more than ye guys want but it's future proofed a nice bit and won't be a slow headwrecker.

Shout back if it doesn't suit and if I get a chance/someone will throw up a cheaper one....

That laptop from argos doesn't compare to the Lenovo postedby TlitedBrian.
It's one of the best value laptops around

If you are willing to spend a little bit more.... Samsung RV511 is without question one of the best laptops I've ever used.

    Highly recommended

genuine question... why? Is it the processor?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,414 ✭✭✭Fluffy88

Yup, you got it in one :)

The Lenovo has the Intel Core i3 2330M which is one of Intels current generation of processors, codenamed Sandybridge.
Sandybridge processors pretty much blow everything else out of the water in terms of performance so unless you were on a very, very tight budget you would be mad not to get a Sandybridge CPU in a new laptop.

Ok, what about the make Lenovo, I have never heard of it before, but then again, I'm not up to date on makes of laptop...What do you think of it?

Where can this be bought in a shop as well?

Lenovo are a good brand, I personally haven't used one but I am urging my brother to buy this one too since it's such a good deal at that price.
The company was owned by IBM, I think that speaks for itself.

Really these days most brands are good, even the bad one's.

Unless your want to get ripped off don't buy in a shop, buy online.
I wouldn't even consider buying from shops as most shops don't even stock any laptops with a Sandybridge CPU.
You can look around if you like but you won't beat that price in a shop.
Pixmania are a well known online store and you are safe to buy from them.

Lenovo, previously IBM, make the most solid, sturdy and reliable laptops around. Some say macbooks do, but from my experience, online MBP is very reliable, the others tend to get issues like cracking cases etc.

I used lenovos mainly in my work during the summer, very popular with businesses.

Dont buy a laptop in a shop. Ever. They will rip you off.

The Lenovo on pixmania above is a good deal yes, especially since its a lenovo laptop your getting and not a cheap brand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,350 ✭✭✭✭SteelyDanJalapeno

Thats a buyers opinion, i didnt bother with extending, but if it makes you feel better and can afford it, then go ahead

That Lenovo is no longer available. Damn my inability to make a decision.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,350 ✭✭✭✭SteelyDanJalapeno

Can be got in PC World for 460 ish

At that price you'd be better off getting this Toshiba from amazon
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-Satellite-L750-16Z-Notebook-Bluetooth/dp/tech-data/B005V7QG0K/ref=de_a_smtd
    It's got the i5 2430M, for €30 more it's a bargain
