No, this is a totally separate league, US based league.

Ah, I also tied 6-6 at the Semi final stage (in the boards non-keeper league) and had no idea why I had got through to the final, not complaining though! Seems it comes down to previous head to head records.

Congrats to JPF. Fully deserved win.

Great job JPF! Really solid performance in finals week. Most of your roster seemed to play which always helps and your offense was very strong. :)

Thanks folks! I was lucky to have a good team all season and not too many injuries. Was incredibly lucky also to get through to the final, the week before I really scraped through the matchup with Fireballers based on the final couple of at-bats so could have gone either way.

But overall I'm delighted after putting in the effort over the past few years but always coming up short. I finished in last place in 2014 but I thought my team was much better than that. Made a few trades near the end of last season e.g. giving up pitchers to get Tulowitzki as he was injured so I could really make a go of it in 2015. As I had first pick this year I took Mookie Betts who filled the dreaded 2B position for me - it's always been my weakest. I also hated trading away Stanton this year but it was actually the reverse situation. I wanted to win this year and he was injured and a rebuilding team offered me Braun and a couple of starters to help me down the stretch.

Will enjoy the postseason now and see you all at the 2016 draft (after I figure out which players to cut)

    Nicely done, man.

I like to think I had a major hand in the title this year :p
Your team is just a bunch of Badgers rejects...oh....

After the winter break hopefully we're all re-charged for the 2016 season. I'm going to renew the league and send the invites. Hopefully all of us can make it again. We're now on Year 6!

If anyone can't make it, let me know on here or PM me. We changed a couple of things around last year which seemed to work well and happy to hear any ideas ye might have for this year's version.

    Your friendly Commissioner

    Cheers Friendly Commish.

Started listing to the CBS Fantasy Baseball podcast yesterday and then the invite arrived! Nice timing.

How many Keepers again? And do we have to keep said number. I can't remember what we decided. In the football keeper, the number is up to 4 but can be 0,1,2,3 or 4.

I could struggle for 6 proper keepers!

One thing which I'm not sure we can do, but if we could, I think we should think about.

The trade deadline is set for August 14th. In a Keeper league, do we need this. Should we allow trading up to the playoffs as sometime you would like to make an acquisition to get into the playoffs.

Yep 6 keepers can be set but you can choose to keep less.

I'm having the opposite struggle, 3 players fighting for my 6th keeper spot!

Oh and 2 N/A players can also be kept

Any thoughts on any changes to this league?
Nothing too radical, like the 10 categories are fine.
But I am thinking as there are 10 teams and everyone stacked enough, we could look possibly:

    2 catchers
Change the IF position to a CI and MI
    Another reliever position

Just throwing it out there so as to use up the pool of players better.
I've played with Holds and fielding %s in the past and they are more of an annoyance than anything!

Still waiting on a couple of lads to re-join (Tolka Drakes and Golden Nuggets) so I haven't pushed on yet. I'll give them until the weekend and then see where we are.

I'm thinking the last week in March for the draft unless there's any problem with that.

Personally I like the holds and OBP elements of the league but happy to discuss that one.

I might run a poll for roster type changes around MI/IF, 2nd catcher and relievers if people want. The other leagues I'm in play two catchers and don't really enjoy that aspect as there's so few decent catchers. I find I just fill the second spot and find myself rotating pointlessly to little effect.

I think the up-to-six keepers worked well last year as there was lots of different strategies used. The NA also worked well (it's a git to organise though!!)

I might give us 2 mins between picks or agree a pause period at the start of the draft so everyone can have a look at what players are available. I feel there's a lot to suddenly take in - a bit like this post!

    All thoughts welcome!

I'm (Golden Nuggets) out this year guys. Just don't have the time to commit to a daily baseball league this year. Best of luck to all involved, this is always a great league to take part in.

We have one spot free for this year. Does anyone know somebody who'd like to join?

Poll set up to set the draft time. Please do vote - draft are much better crack when we're all there! http://doodle.com/poll/cicyvbvk5u8k8un9

Once we decide I'll set the keeper deadline for 2 days beforehand. There's a few things to chat through (trade deadline was mentioned as one) and we've a few weeks to decide those things.

If anyone knows somebody who'd like to join please get them to PM me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

I have a tenth player for the league so we have the full complement. He's not on Boards (as far as I know) but I'll get him on here.

We have 5 on the poll so far and no time in that week that suits all. One team is only available at one time in the period. Can the rest fill it in please? I might have to extend the potential days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,080 ✭✭✭boccy23

Won't be able to make that week at all. I'm in Florida for Spring Training! Well sort of. We're in Orlando so will try and make it to Braves camp at ESPN in Disney World.
Could do something the week before as leaving on Saturday the 26th.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

The Tuesday or the Thursday works best but we're still only getting 7 on those nights. One teams hasn't responded - Homers Homers - it might be you!

    In response to Boccy's email I've expanded it into the previous week. Would ye all have a look at it and let's see if we can get a full complement? Thursday 31st currently looks best and we can go on that date if that still works best. Here's the link again just in case;
    http://doodle.com/poll/cicyvbvk5u8k8un9

I have to finalise the draft date before I can set the rest of the league up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

Draft set for Thursday 31st at 21.30. One team available at 9 and one at 10 so that time might help in some way. No time in the previous week was working at all. Ye're a busy lot!

The keeper deadline is set for Sunday the 27th. This means they have to be chosen by midnight on Saturday the 26th. I want to avoid the mess I made of it last year so I've given myself a couple of days to get it all sorted.

That will be a hard deadline so if you don't have anybody picked then all your players go into the pot.

If there are any NA players that people want to keep then PM me and I'll pop in as the last picks. As in previous years the draft order will be in the reverse order of final results last year.

    Hi all
Just dropping by to say hello. Your kindly commissioner has invited me to take over the Golden Nuggets this season. It'll be my rookie year as a Fantasy MLB manager and I'm really looking forward to it.

I've already asked a team of highly paid consultants to undertake a detailed root & branch review of the Nuggets performance in previous years and, on their advice, I've taken the radical steps of ... renaming the team and introducing a new logo. The team will now be known as the Giant Squirrels. That should do the trick. The rest is easy isn't it?

"See" you all at the Draft.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

    Folks,

Just to remind you that your keeper deadline is tomorrow night, Sat 26th, at midnight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,074 ✭✭✭MoyVilla9

    It's 6 keepers, correct?

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

It's up to 6 if you want and you can PM me if you want to keep your NA players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

Right lads - all set for the draft. The draft order is:

    1. Tolka Drakes
    2. Beechwood Badgers
    3. El Capitan
    4. RebelSox
    5. Giant Squirrels
    6. Artful Dodgers
    7. Eastside Fireballers
    8. Homer's Homers
    9. K Kings
    10. Judean Peoples Front

Every team bar two have picked six keepers so those two will have the first two picks of the draft and then that order will kick in.

There's only four NA players picked. Those players have been allocated to the final rounds of the draft.

Should be all good to go. Draft room is open at 9.15 on Thursday. Chat to you all then!

Only the main keepers seem to show up on the rosters on the site - will we get to see these 4 N/A players prior to the draft? (I forgot to PM mine so will have to pick up in the draft)

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

The four NA players are Julio Urias, Lucas Giolito, Yoan Moncada and Tyler Glasnow. All other players other than the keepers are eligible for the draft.

Yea, I had trouble at the start...had to first switch browsers (Firefox to Chrome) then restart it again. After that it was fine...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,370 ✭✭✭✭8-10

7 of my batters homered on their opening day (1 of which had 2 bombs in his opening game though I unfortunately benched him!)

My pitching, on the other hand, is woeful.

How early is too early to make trade proposals? :P

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

My team is batting .189. ::o I'm open to discussions!

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

Very quiet on here this year, plenty of action in the league though!

It's really unsettled this year. I think I have pitching sorted and then someone gets hurt or goes off the boil. Same with hitting. I had a monster week two weeks ago and then couldn't knock snow off a rope last week. What to do with Miguel Sano????

The Squirrels have announced themselves with a bang this year. Another five teams definitely in with a shout at this stage and a couple of big wins would get any of the last four closer as well. It's very competitive.:)

Not too many trades on the board this year. Just to say that the deadline is August 14 so there's still a couple of weeks. We had an intensive deadline last year, maybe there's a few late moves to be made....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,370 ✭✭✭✭8-10

I had my 2 DL spots and 2 NA spots nicely stacked, then on Saturday both players come off the DL and today both NA's get called up so I have to activate them!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 GiantSquirrel

We have our own trade deadline? Ouch. I found it hard enough managing through the real one. So many of my players seemed to be the subject of deals at one point or another leading up to the deadline. They were either being held out of the lineup to keep them injury free or en-route cross-country to their new teams. I feel the Artful Dodgers pain about knocking snow off a rope though. My hitters seem to have gone cold after the All-Star break. Much like the the SF Giants .... the hottest team in baseball before the break so I head to New York to see them on a road trip and they now look like they've never met each other before!

Must say I'm really enjoying this, but hadn't realised how much work it is to manage the lineup on the daily basis. Here's to the trade deadline. I'm open to interesting offers :)

Trade deadline comes and goes. Number of trades in the league this year: 0

We're awfully suspicious of each other!

One week I need pitching, the next hitting. I didn't know where to start on trading!

I'm still hoping my Greinke trade from last year will finally pay off...

Final this week, K Kings versus Eastside Fireballers.
    Best of luck.

Felt emotional dropping Jose Fernandez after him being a keeper for me for a few years. My only pitching keeper this season.

    Yes best of luck!

Best of luck to the finalists. I had hopes of being there myself but my hitters in particular completely ran out of steam these last few weeks.

The Jose Fernandez news was terrible. The pictures of that boat are horrifying.

Must say I'm quite looking forward to a few months not having to check west coast lineups at midnight! Meanwhile I'll be watching the Fireballers v Kings matchup with interest and hoping my San Francisco Giants can dig themselves out of their second half tail-spin and nick the NL wildcard spot.

Great final. Managed to squeeze out the win with some very random starting pitchers over the weekend.
Really enjoyable season with so many new players at the top of keeper ranks now that wouldn't have been thought if at the start of the year.
All of the power nowadays from SS, 2B etc. makes power so much more difficult to evaluate for next year.

Yes, congrats! In the matchup things were going fine for me until McHugh's gem...that forced my hand as my WHIP and ERA weren't low enough to bench my SPs on Sunday so I put them out there and Maeda (the only SP I had all season) proceeded to throw batting practice. Moore was excellent so kudos on that pickup. That was the game I was half watching (along with the golf) as it was Vin's last call so it was fitting it was the game that decided the matchup.
